The source link either was added later or I’m blind, but didn’t see it in the reddit post. Thank you for mentioning it, I will edit my comment and link directly to this video!

It’s specifically made for splitting wood. I… briefly considered getting one before realizing that I was in no way qualified to use nor did I even plausibly need one.

Worked better than I expected, which I guess, makes sense. The sword is ultimately also just a weight and a blade.

Although the axe is probably better for splitting larger and gnarlier pieces.
In particular, if your axe gets stuck, you can lift log+axe into the air, flip it 180°, and then slam the axe head down to use the weight of the log to split itself. Would not particularly want to do that with a sword. 😅

This has to be AI, right? No sound, odd swinging movements, and the physics/lighting on that wood are pretty crazy. Watch the wood go flying whenever the longsword taps it, for example.

You’ve never split wood before, have you? It looks fairly accurate to me.

They open up a log in one moment and then split the same log with the sword afterwards. The pieces fly sideways and spin wildly because a bunch of force was just applied to it’s top while sitting on a heavy log. There is even a shot where the axe gets stuck and splits on a different spot because it’s a little too far forward from the swinger.

I feel like AI would not know about those potential, and common, outcomes and would just split perfectly every time.

67% isn’t a lot, especially when you consider the missing sound is caused by my repost here. Upload the ‚original‘ one from Reddit and test again.

edit: Added the original source to the video on YouTube. This video was uploaded there two years ago. I think your and your tools AI detection is wrong.

Look at my comment regarding the sound. The video isn’t mine but I have absolutely no reasons to assume this is AI. I‘ve never split wood with a sword but with an axe and it looks very accurate to me.

The wood physics look like wood physics, I’m not sure what to tell you there.

Edit: of course how it splits depends on a few factors. How dry the wood is, the density of the wood, the consistency of the grain. If the wood is super dried out and there’s no knots then that shit really does split itself. It’s not uncommon to connect the ax at one part of the log and have a totally different part of the log snap off just cuz. I call those “freebies”
