You can replace “Australia” with the hottest place in your area and it’s exactly the same.

It’s not though, unless they have also had three la Nina’s in a row and similarly high soil moisture, etc

As a climate scientist, I know heatwaves in [hot place] will only get worse. We need to start preparing now

Your specifics definitely don’t matter given the headline, is what I mean!

We have personally but Australian voters ( 85%) don’t give a shit and are wholly unconcerned, it should come as no surprise then that politicians don’t either.

I moved from Far Northern Australia to Northern NSW to escape the tropics in 2008. Then in 2019 realised it was getting worse more quickly then I anticipated so moved to Tasmania after covid shutdowns, after a brief flirtation with moving to NZ. We are now off a flood plain and away from bush fire risk on the edge of a small rural town.

Last year was colder then average here in Tasmania when we had an SSW (Sudden Stratospheric Warming) over Antarticia, common in the Artic but only the second one recorded in Antarctica, an SSW causes pertubations in the southern jetstream.

I am not here to escape climate change, tjays now impossible, I just don’t want to be at the front of the queue as many Australians have deliberately chosen.

What I find most disturbing is so many parents doing their best to make the future worse for thier children, truly extraordinary.
