

back when I did Olympic type fencing (epee) I found that being short was pretty bad (I’m 5 4). Going for the belly is not a good strategy in fencing since it’s a very deep target, if you just do that with no setup they can easily hit your arm/shoulder which is a much shallower target and their reach is comparatively longer than yours. also most people stand kind of sideways when fencing so it’s not that easy to hit the belly, maybe you just mean like the side of the torso?
