Or a submarine.

Or a submarine.

The problem is, while you and I have a problem with that, billionaires don’t.

Just my personal opinion but I think while you are right - a lot of the time it’s almost coincidental that these two factors overlap.
I say that because I think a huge factor is an underlying psychological need to feel powerful and in control. So in their actions they target those who it is easy to feel powerful over. But in their posturing they seek positions that are viewed as powerful.
It’s all a somewhat normal biological drive that healthy people grow through and integrate into their psyche while going on to add things like empathy. For these people that part of their development remains at that of a tiny child. Maybe genetic, maybe trauma, whatever it is they need help - and help far away from the vulnerable and positions of power so people can remain safe until they can (if it’s possible - and I’m not sure it is always) heal.
To be clear - nothing about these people’s actions is OK, they are terrible people. But I do think we should be trying to figure out more why so many of them end up in powerful positions and what we can do about it, is there early interventions we could be putting in place etc. to catch these people and head off their harm at the pass.

So I know i’n replying to this late - but I know Obsidian has a couple of Journaling plugins, Diarian in particular is made to emulate DayOne.
I haven’t used DayOne since I was on a iPhone 4 so it’s been a while but would be worth checking out if you haven’t found a good option yet.

This is interesting as I’ve not even heard of Floorp and alternatives have been such a hot topic the last month between manifest v3 and firefoxes updated terms fiasco.
Can I ask, what for you had you opt for floorp vs the more commonly mentioned alternatives like Librewolf, Waterfox, etc.?

I’ve been checking this site on and off from Europe for about a month. Can someone who knows more than me explain the expected timeline for what remains?
I feel like it jumped up into the mid 30%s after only a month or so and then stagnated for weeks.
Now it seems to have jumped again. But I guess I’m wondering at what sort of percentage does everything go to shit (not that it isn’t already!). Are there points where there is a no turning back or civil war becomes inevitable, etc.? Or does it hit a certain percentage where it will jump to 100% overnight due to certain protections being removed.
I guess I’m struggling to wrap my head around what I’m seeing, what it looks like between 40% and 100% and how quickly this might happen?
Even a guide somewhere on the net that breaks it down would be great.
There is an Organic Maps ios app which I use to mostly good effect. Occasionally have to fall back to Google maps and then I make a note to update OSM with the details missing where possible later.

Thanks so much for sharing this Bookwyrm is on my radar to try (currently use storygraph). I’ve been looking for ways to contribute to the open source community as a non-coder so def going to check out bookbrainz. Freedom of information is one of my biggest passions and this goes hand in hand with those goals as they form the backbone of meaningful archival efforts.

Thanks for saying this - I did click the link but saw it was 45mins and was immediately out until I read the comments.
Incredible video. I love him!

Thanks so much for the reply, I’ll give it a download to play with it - I certainly am a big fan of simple!

This looks great. Thanks so much for your work on this and sharing with us.
What in your opinion sets your software apart from the other options you mention?
I have recently setup dockers for plex, immich, nextcloud and paperlessngx but have yet to look at longterm maintenence inc. things like auto updates (I know to avoid on immich).
As someone who prob knows the options inside and out - would you recommend your option to this relative newbie or do you think one of the other options might be a better place to start?

The world: How much are your eggs?
Trump: $100
The world: Sure we’ll help… that will be $99.

Christ I reread that first line about 5 times trying to figure out how introducing a comma would help make things better.
Guess I’m all in on the original.

Yes! And more commonly referred to as “blindos”
Me turning up the radio whenever my car starts making a terrible noise.

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense to me, part of me balks at meeting in the middle with such extremes already in play especially given that even these numbers will still be seen as nigh poverty enforced by evil socialist to the ultra wealthy.

Yeah I can see that, very interesting example. I have to think about that more as I’m already thinking of loads of similar examples. I guess at the end of the day a 90-99% tax above $x would still be “fair” but it def is a different perspective on ultra wealth that might not necessarily be “stolen.”
I 100% agree, and hope that remains to be an option. But also… things can change, and they can change fast. We are all only a few days of missed meals or missed mortgage payments from having very different standards.
