Felt like less racism
To you. I promise you, racism has always been a huge problem.

8·2 days agoI used to be a buyer for a manufacturing facility. We’d joke that if something went wrong in production, they would blame the scheduler, the scheduler would blame the buyer, the buyer would blame the supplier, and the supplier would blame our quality team.
As long as you’re not the last on the list, your job is secure.
(Our QA dept had incredibly high turnover.)

6·13 days agoProbably not a lot of “queer devout Christians” out there.
Many, many more than you’d think. Plenty of denominations have no problem with queer people. Even the Catholic church has walked back a lot of their anti-queer messaging in the last decade.
Friendship with Tim Robinson is the best modern satire on this topic because it actually makes the people who don’t get it deeply uncomfortable instead.

Eddie Izzard had that bit about people accusing them of wearing women’s clothes, and Eddie would explain, “They’re not women’s clothes; they’re my clothes! I bought them.”

8·1 month agoThere was a game a few years ago called ScreenCheat. Four-player splitscreen shooter, and everyone is invisible. So you find your target by looking at their screen to figure out where they are in the level.
Schenectady is “the place beyond the pines” because there was a big old pine barren between it and the next settlement over.

Technology@lemmy.world•RAM is so expensive that stores are selling it at market pricesEnglish
171·2 months agoIt’s blatant price-gouging. Any stock in the store has already been sold to them at an agreed price. They can set a number and make their set margin.
Updating prices after each delivery might make sense (if their procurement department is absolute dogshit at negotiating contracts), but updating prices throughout the day is just someone trying to see how hard they can push their margins to drain every cent out of their customers.
A Blu-ray release would still be giving money to Amazon, since it’s their production, though…?

My current phone is a Galaxy S9 from 2018. I bought it used three years ago for less than $100, and it does more than I’d ever need it to.
