More like trillions of years. As a secular person, I do still hold out hope for the idea of some kind of afterlife. Like maybe this is a simulation or something like that, and we’ll get to be reunited with all our loved ones and continue to exist, explore and try new things, read all the books that have ever been written, watch all the movies and TV shows, play all the games, visit areas throughout history that you could’ve never seen while alive, talk to all the famous people throughout history who’ve lived and died - you get the point - up until we tire of existence itself and commit ourselves back to the universal fold. Basically, the setting of the Good Place, once it was turned into the actual Good Place. I really hope for something like that, because going back to nonexistence bums me out, even if by definition we cannot experience it.

No one* is safe from this. They’ll twist this and other rulings to make it so they can easily discard the rights of anyone against the MAGAt regime.

Android@lemdro.id•Nova Launcher is basically dead, and Android is worse off for itEnglish
19·1 year agoMeh. It’s been dead to me since it was sold off to an ad company years ago. It was novel and cool 10 years ago but today there are plenty of better alternatives and even default launchers have come a long way. OneUI + Good Lock has been more than enough for me on my phone and tab.
Produce quality is already very noticeably down, at least the mass produced stuff. Greenhouse/hydro grown is untouched obviously but prices are sky high as a result.
What’s your take on it? (I just like reading takes on Bioshock)

News@lemmy.world•Why more and more people are tuning the news out: ‘Now I don’t have that anxiety’
1·1 year agoThat’s true as well, and that’s sort of what I mean. People and outlets simply are not allowed to communicate ideas which might harm the interests of those who own or are invested in the channels. Or if they are, it’s quickly overwhelmingly countered with a firehose of conflicting information. As a blatantly obvious example of this I always bring up Bernie Sander’s Presidential campaigns. Whenever they televised a Sanders event or some event he was speaking at or attending, the media would run pro-private healthcare segments as often as they could. Commercials, opinion pieces, bringing “experts” on to provide commentary, it was just nonstop bullshit fear mongering attempting to terrify Americans out of voting for a more beneficial public system.

News@lemmy.world•Why more and more people are tuning the news out: ‘Now I don’t have that anxiety’
27·1 year agoI just want healthcare, housing and education to be accessible, and the news seems hellbent on reporting on everything except that which could affect any of those issues in a positive way. They never do and that’s one of the big reasons we’re dealing with Trump.

5·1 year agoYa as much as I hate the Swiss for being neutral throughout all conflicts and rarely picking sides, they’ve become rather well known for being neutral throughout all conflicts and rarely picking sides.

8·1 year agoDon’t have to deal with it at all if you simply stop going. That’s what I’ve done, as it doesn’t make sense to spend $15 on a fast food meal when the same amount of money buys food from a real restaurant.
Me too. That’s why I drink Anal Prolapse. Anal Prolapse: It’s got nutrients?

10·1 year agoMore 24H2 shittery. I locked all my Windows machines to the 23H2 track after installing it on my desktop completely broke all networking functionality.
I mean tbf, politics is all that is on a lot of people’s minds. Americans especially. Its kind of the front and center thing with TFG in charge. I’m just elated to see actual discussion, angry as it may be, instead of an endless chain of (Removed). It’s nostalgic and raw. It reminds me of the old days.
I was gonna make a comment about how at least lemmy is “picking up steam” user wise, but then I remembered all the dipshits and children that are on reddit. Lemmy is slower but content and discussion so far has been of much higher quality.

Oh shit, I didn’t realize OSM had a Flock locator. Is it working as a layer in OsmAnd yet? I’ll check…
EDIT: Nope, or at least I couldn’t find it.
