Linux noob music guy here. Any chance the yabridge stuff will get fixed by a wine update or is it something only the yabridge developers can fix?

Linux@lemmy.world•Mint is so much more usable than the last time I tried and I'm in loveEnglish
2·7 months agoStudio One, which i have been using for years, has a linux beta that does already work quite well. But only in a wayland Session which means… no 3rd party plugin GUIs. And no clue when this might change, maybe never. Probably a deal breaker for 99% of the target group. I really want to switch to Linux, but for Audio guys it can be a pain. Reaper rules tho.

Hard disagree. While they are worse nowadays due to tighter budgets and schedules they elevated several otherwise mediocre movies so much back in the day. There still are some legendary voice actors i love to listen to. It creates an unique experience different from the original. AI on the other hand… hate it.
Im struggling to switch to Linux for music production. I dont like ardour, reaper works fine but no Windows vsts… even with wine/yabridge getting paid ones with licence protection running is a mess. Compatibility with old projects (Studio one, there is a linux beta but needs wayland, i use Mint so another thing to change) is another difficulty. Of course none of this isnt solvable somehow but i dont think we are there yet offering Producers an comfortable switch.
Because they have been fed massive propaganda against EVs for years, they would never buy one anyway.
Stardew fucking Valley. Spent hundreds of hours with my wife on that game, amazing time!

I mean… they’re quite open about it.
Im at the same point. I spent quite some Money on Studio one and plugins…i’ll probably try a setup with Wine and/or Yabridge soon. Wouldnt mind that much if i had to switch to Reaper.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•CDs are better than vinyl and most people listen to music on systems that sound dreadfulEnglish
182·2 years agoNope, mp3 is not “better” than CD since its a lossy format. It uses how we perceive audio so we notice it as little as possible, but you definitely loose details

13·2 years agoI’d say that tons of different battery technologies are in the making or already in production, same for recycling methods. I’d also say that people like you probably don’t give a single fuck about the batteries in all their other devices. Cutting down the production by banning single use batteries , enforcing reuse and recycling and of course offer public transport as an alternative to EVs wherever it is possible are also pretty common demands among your big bad “globalist” crowd.

politics @lemmy.world•Guess Where Marjorie Taylor Greene Has Suddenly Gotten Popular?
53·2 years agoIts so incredibly obvious that Putin supports everything that will weaken USA/EU/NATO-“The West” in the long run, economically, politically, you name it. Everything that will disassemble these systems, make them more vulnerable to corruption, reduces the trust people have in them. How the hell do these ultra-“patriotic” right wingers not see this while Putin is so clear and outspoken about it?
My comment was more on the original post. You can’t just switch the content of a point because another one is made in a similar way and say it’s basically the same. Guess i got cautious with all the “Climate change activists are like a religious cult” arguments. Just because two groups are advocating strongly for something doesn’t mean one of cant have good arguments and the other one isnt full of shit. That being said, I agree that not willing to compromise to a certain degree or aim for intermediate goals is stupid and not productive.
