1·11 months agoThat’s really cool. I always thought web components needed something more to be really useful. I work with vanilla web components at work all the time and they’re not really that fun to work with

Linux@lemmy.world•Why I'm breaking up with WindowsEnglish
3·11 months agoLess cynically, desktops and laptops are a shrinking market. Windows (at least, home users of windows) becomes less relevant to MS’s bottom line every day. I don’t see any reason why they should invest in native software tools if most things are web these days

1·11 months agoIf my phone is physically compromised and the bootloader is unlocked, my hope is that storage encryption would make it a “non-issue”. Yes, they could wipe the device and delete my data then resell the phone, but at that point all they’ve stolen is a $300 phone with maybe $80 resale value and not my entire identity
Why is this project so plagued with drama

1·1 year agoPlus the supply lines. I heard it said that TSMC is the king not just because they have the best equipment and scientists and engineers in the world, but because they have a very well optimized supply line that allows they to buy incredible amounts of raw materials and turn them into incredible amounts of chips and ship them all over the world.

Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft starts testing Copilot Vision update that can “see” your screen and appsEnglish
14·1 year agoIt’s called recall or something. If you are trying to find something you saw before but can’t remember, it remembers for you.
Copilot, what was the video on Pornhub I saw a few months ago, with the brunette who looks like Jessica from accounting? And she had like 4 guys in her at once and was eating spaghetti?
“how to problem solve” and “use logic” are, I believe, myths. When you teach someone to implement quicksort, all you’ve done is taught them to implement quicksort. Classroom based lectures and rote memorization do not impart any kind of broader “problem-solving” ability. This is an ex post rationalization by the perpetrators of the education system to justify their own existence. I place the value of what they do very low
If it’s about problem solving and using logic, why do we need to memorize quicksort? That’s not an example of using logic or problem solving
