  • “Cartel de los Soles” is not a verifiable organization but a slang term coined by Venezuelan media in the 1990s to describe corruption among individual military officials — not a structured cartel.

Same approach as they have done with Antifa - the notion that a descriptive term can be repurposed as a (non-existant) oppositional entity is perfect for people who want to scare their followers with bogeymen.

See also the absurd misusage of “woke” to encompass anything that isn’t hateful sexism, racism, etc.

  • Although Time’s Man (now Person) of the Year is about who has had the most impact in a given year, it’s not meant to be an honour or endorsement of the person chosen, or at least not officially. Not is it something Hitler “won”. He was named it.

In their wording, he was "the newsmaker who most influenced world events for better or worse” in that year (1938), which tbh is hard to argue with.

    From this article about it,

Time named Hitler 1938’s Man of the Year in its Jan. 2, 1939, issue, whose cover illustration, did not feature the portrait of Hitler in the circulating posts, but rather a black-and-white drawing depicting Hitler as a small figure playing a large organ with the caption: “From the unholy organist, a hymn of hate.”

  • As long as you are not in major target city … you will be fine.

    That seems pretty complacent tbh.

First of all even just the top 30 cities in the US are home to about 41 million people. Which seems a lot of folk to simply write off.

Also, the destruction of the major cities would cause huge/complete economic, social, infrastructural and legal collapse for the rest of the country.

Plus, even for those outside the immediate blast radius, there’d be the massive environmental impact of pollution to land and water, not least the potential for a nuclear winter killing off crops, and then animals.

Turns out my house was outside the blast radius if the base was nuked.

Without knowing the size of the bomb, how could you know you would be outside it? Not that blast radius is all that matters anyway.
