You don’t have a frigging clue what you are talking about. It’s more than simply a web browser.

Every American store supports credit cards in the form of Mastercard and Visa. Dutch cards will also work the same. With the extra requirement of 2FA, but that’s handled by pretty much every payment gateway, the merchant doesn’t get involved in that.

This is finally changing. Dutch banks are - after years of dilly dallying - finally replacing legacy Maestro cards with Mastercard that you can use online. Yes, you still have to go via 2fa, but at least, I don’t have to deal with iDeal anymore with risky merchants.
FP4 camera is nothing to write home about. FP5 and FP6 are better, but still mostly mediocre quality.
In most of Western Europe (where Fairphone’s target audience lives) - banking apps are a necessity. You’d find it very difficult to bank without these apps. Not impossible, but still a big hassle.

That’s exactly the point. Home connections are limited to a specific amperage (15 or 16) pretty much all across the world - certainly not beyond that anywhere. Voltage remains the only difference: 120 vs 240. With 120V at 15A you can only go up to 1800W which does take a long time to boil water.
Yes, you could have multiple phases to get to 240V in 120V countries to boil water faster but these would be special outlets and not meant for a kettle that you could buy from a Walmart.

It’s perfectly fine. If all smokers had the graciousness to not smoke around other people in public this wouldn’t be a problem. As someone who’s bothered by smoke it’s very annoying when I’m sitting on a bench in a park and someone comes up to the next bench and starts smoking.

A big reason is that the gap between TV and movies has become a lot smaller. In a way, TV has filled the gap left by movies, with a lower cost. Which also results in studios not willing to take risks with movies.
Adguard has a more polished UI and has a bunch of nicer features that Pi Hole doesn’t. The most important one for me being able to use it as a DNS remotely (eg: my phone) without a VPN.

Thanks!

Not the OP but if they don’t take up on the offer I might be able to. I am happy to pay for the shipping if it’s possible for you to send it across the border to Netherlands. (I assume without the battery to comply with shipping regulations).

AFAIK, they were never recognised in the Dutch law. i.e. not explicitly banned, just never legalised.
Kudos on Fairphone for offering 8 years of software updates.
As an owner of FP4, my biggest gripes with the FP4 are the software updates. Bugs keep languishing for months before they are acknowledged and then months pass before the bugs are fixed. Three annoying issues with my FP4 that I deal with on a daily basis:
I don’t care much about Android 13 as long as I get timely security patches. What I want is a bug free experience and that’s something FP4 fails to deliver.
An annoying hardware decision is the SIM card can’t be hot swapped. Not sure why this wasn’t addressed with FP5.
Is there any sense in installing a custom ROM on the phone to get rid of the software issues?
Custom ROM will help with some issues, but not all. If the issue is in a proprietary blob, like the random screen dimming issue that’s plagued FP4 for months now, you’d still be stuck with the issue.

I’d be very interested to see some numbers here. I share the sentiment of the OP: there’s often talk about public transport being unprofitable but I haven’t come across any conversation about how much it costs to maintain our road infrastructure and how much of it is covered by taxes.
Meanwhile, using a car to go between two cities in the Netherlands always works out cheaper than taking the train and the difference has gone up significantly in the last few years.

If you’re looking for a replacement for Soundbuds Flow (i.e. ~€20), you’ll be disappointed. For me, Soundbuds Flow were perfect for workouts. Cheap and I didn’t care too much about sound quality. Anker rebooted their audio line and focuses on mid-range to high-end products.
The new cards have 16 digit numbers. I feel you are not even reading what I’m writing. You can easily find more info online about the new Mastercard based debit cards online. I know both ABN and ASN support online payments with the Mastercard versions
