I actually don’t think this is a bad thing. If middle classed citizens get priced out of cars then they will be forced to embrace walking, biking, and transit to get around. If enough of the population becomes dependent on these means of transportation then local governments are going to be forced to invest in infrastructure that is not car centric.

It will take time for that to happen, but I feel that more people are questioning car dependency due to the astronomical prices of owning a car.

My parents worked hard every year and never took much vacation because they wanted to save it for their retirement when they could travel with us kids. Problem is now they are retired and we all have our own families and lives and don’t have time to travel with them, so they are out by themselves most of the time.

Imagine how many great trips we could have had together over the years when we were young and free to spend time together. Now those days are gone and all my parents have to show for it is the money they made working.

I was thinking of something similar. Especially since the SSD is not doing much beyond running the True Nas OS. So splitting that between a HDD does not feel like it would push things that much more

When I finished school and had my Bachelors, the only thing I thought was, “Glad I am done with that bullshit.”

I was lucky to do college debt free by going back years later and having a nest egg from years of working to pay off my costs, but so many kids go at 17 because that is what they are told to do and have debt for life from a degree that that they likely won’t use because they have never worked and don’t know where they want a career.

Now with AI taking away white collar jobs, I think it will be harder for kids to justify. Why would they put themselves through all that stress and work for no guarantee of a career?

I loved SmartTube, but I moved away from my Android TV when Google started saying they are not going to allow side loading apps. Google has walked back that policy a bit, but I am much happier now with my alternatives and the knowledge that Google can’t wreck them with their future bull shit.

That said SmartTube is a goat and it is sad to hear that such a great app has been compromised like this.
