It’s not named a certain way just based on the browser it’s on, it’s named to reflect the features it has. The “lite” version isn’t as flexible because it was built to work on browsers that restrict the features of the full version. Given how restrictive mobile browsers are generally, on iOS in particular, I’m surprised the developer even got the lite version working.

Excel is proprietary software made by a company that achieved monopoly status by intentionally designing “compatibility issues” into its products. If you’re telling me you have a business need to use the Microsoft Windows desktop version of Excel specifically and nothing else will do, then throw your PC in the garbage and pay whatever tithe Microsoft tells you to pay. Or more specifically, have your employer do that if it’s their decision anyway.

One company continuing to exist entirely at the whim of their direct competitor seems like the definition of dependency to me. Mozilla’s current business model requires them to function as a de facto subsidiary of Google.

that or Inkscape are the only real answers I’d have if you forced me to name one, but I’d have a hard time recommending a vector graphics editor to a regular person who just wants to edit text formatting in a PDF without messing it up.

I’m always surprised that, for as widely used as PDFs are, there doesn’t seem to be any real alternative to Acrobat for editing existing PDFs.
