Thank you for this piece of info. OK that’s also confusing, from what I understood, seeding is not possible without port forwarding? I have to go and fact-check again about this. Maybe test both Mullvad and ProtonVPN for one month… If I do, I’ll report with a post here.
I’d immediately go with Mullvad, if they had port forwarding. I’m considering Proton for VPN (and nothing else), but it’s really disconcerting how disparate is the range of opinions about Proton VPN. No idea where the truth is. Probably I’ll just try the monthly subscription, so I can test and leave immediately if it doesn’t work.

2·5 days agoThank you for the updates! I agree that they should simply state a clear data limit, given that they have one. One of my concerns about them is their being based in Canada, Five Eyes. Although I wonder how’s the Five Eyes situation now, given the present political storm.

Science@mander.xyz•158 scientists used the same data, but their politics predicted the results
3·5 days agoVery little that can be inferred indeed. They use linear regression to quantify correlations, that is they assume that relations are linear – and don’t even seem to justify why or how such an assumption should be valid. Good luck with that. Final blow is the use of p-values and “statistical significance”. To quote from the official statement by the American Statistical Association:
-
P-values do not measure the probability that the studied hypothesis is true, or the probability that the data were produced by random chance alone.
-
Scientific conclusions and business or policy decisions should not be based only on whether a p-value passes a specific threshold.
-
A p-value, or statistical significance, does not measure the size of an effect or the importance of a result.
-
By itself, a p-value does not provide a good measure of evidence regarding a model or hypothesis.

3·5 days agoThe best we can do in most cases is to use these sites to bring software, services, features, and risks to our attention
This is my purpose indeed; I’m not saying I’d blindly trust some websites. It’s good to find some that people have found to be more reputable.

3·5 days agoI was interested in them at first, this was very good info. Thank you!
Next time you update this very useful guide, it may be interesting to include official and non-official info about data limits. For instance, according to this post, Windscribe (Pro!) has a data limit. This seems to be confirmed by their review on TorrentsFreak.

12·5 days agoThank you. They do say that they get commissions, but I found some interesting VPNs there. Had never heard of Windscribe, and it sounded interesting. Luckily this post gave an important warning about it.
Best option may actually be to do a search on VPN opinions here on Lemmy…
Number 2 above should absolutely be heeded much, much more!

About rules: “may include at most one image”? or “must include at least one image”? Unclear to me which one is meant.
