  • You can now add elements on tablet by long-pressing on an empty space

I’m guessing unless you’re on an iPad?

I’ll try later on the dell 7210 but sadly Apple has screwed up so many things with touch so i’m not surprised when stuff no longer “just works” on Apple!😞🤦‍♂️

Thanks for the quick changes though. I did seem to get a ‘dot’ to show up by tapping and holding but haven’t managed to reproduce how I actually did it and it wouldn’t move when dragging things around so 🤷‍♂️ lol

  • I would be curious to know how e-commerce would change though as without ads people would likely gravitate to the big box stores

Do they need to advertise? At the moment we still have search engines, although not for long, but remove the marketing crap and companies can go back to fighting over offering the best prices/services.

I rarely see ads and yet I can still manage to buy the products I want, I just don’t buy much branded crap because it’s overpriced and has been enshitified by greed. People just need to stop buying into marketing bs and go back to buying what you need!

Sadly everything is designed to manipulate the gullible so I doubt there’ll be any meaningful change in my lifetime since it seems to be 60-70% of the population that falls under the gullible tag.

  • I mean, the rich are benefiting from all the ad spending which is all that matters! /s

People really need to remember that you’re paying for the ads regardless of if you see them. The only people who lose out are those who show the ads and giving the amount of websites these days that are solely built around showing ads, I really have no sympathy for them.

The bigger question no-one seems to ask is, how much cheaper would products be if they weren’t spending trillions on ads in the first place?

  • I can’t comment on ZimaOS but I do use CasaOS to manage docker and it saves a lot of hassle for most things. Just being able to click the 3 dots and check for updates is worth it.

The only issue I have with CasaOS is that it doesn’t have support for env files. Maybe ZimaOS fixed that. Next week I should have a HP gen9 arriving to replace my dying gen8 and looking at trying proxmox on that so might have to test ZimaOS.

Still really want to get into kubernetes but trying to get a useful tutorial that works and isn’t a stupid video thats hard to follow is annoyny.

  • I have multiple PI’s waiting for a decent ‘non video’ PI kubernetes tutorial but its hard to find anything beyond setting up a cluster and running hello world or aren’t out of date and no longer work. I already have a 12 pi bitnami cluster but its a pain to manage.

Something showing how to run things like JellyFin with network share for media would cover much of what is needed for Self Hosting.

Bonus points for things like TalosOS would be cool but then it seems net booting TalosOS is difficult because you needed a specific serial thats only easily viewable in Omni right now so still needs SD cards/SSD/NVME hats so increases costs significantly.

I’ve been trying to get a tutorial done myself but keep hitting issues with configs not working as expected. sigh

It’s not that difficult… you pay an ‘ad tariff’ on every product you buy which companies then give to ad companies. So long as the ad companies can fake views that they can show companies that ‘line go up’ everyones happy… except you because everything you buy is double what it would be without advertising being rammed down your throat!

And the increase in product costs is just blamed on immigration, race or whatever other b/s people are stupid enough to believe. 🙄🤦‍♂️

  • [rant] The Internet is not FREE. Its just free at the point of use!

Just like ad funded websites aren’t free to use, they are also just free at the point of use!

People seem to forget where the all this ‘ad money’ comes from. It’s not growing on magic money trees, it’s coming from every product you buy and it’ll be interesting to see how much products have gone up against the sheer amount of ads that are shovelled everywhere now.

The reason the internet used to be great was because people shared information with no expectation of monetary gain. Just the love of what they knew and the joy of sharing information.

So the sooner everyone realises you’re all paying for the ads on every product/service to be shown already, and blocking them actually saves you money because the more ads that are shown, the more websites get paid, the more ad/tracking companies charge companies and yes, the more expensive you’re product and services get! [/rant]

  • then that’s for the workers to decide on. If 51% of the workforce agrees, thats the decision! If that doesn’t ‘fit’ with the workers, make it 60% or 75%, or whatever number the majority agree on!

It really isn’t that difficult. There are plenty of voting systems, the issue comes down to people and a change of thinking how companies are run.

You can make any argument why it wouldn’t work when you don’t want something to work but given the current system is working soooo well… new ideas are better than no ideas! 😎
