I love our DE mat. We had an issue with one of our cats peeing on the cotton mats while they were damp, which is why we switched, but i personally find it oddly luxurious. Clearly not soft and cushy tho.

U.S. News@beehaw.org•Two Teens Are Suing the Trump Administration Over Trans Girls Sports Ban
8·1 year agoUgh, my heart aches for those girls. I can’t fathom what it must feel like at that age to receive such hate from large swaths of the population, and to have the president attacking your way of life like it’s some sort of personal vendetta.

11·1 year agoIt’s my opinion that all US departments are now compromised. Any “research” done here will only have results that align with the white house. Much like any research headed by Marjorie Traitor Greene or JFK jr. would be so inherently flawed as to only show biased results.
Somehow I don’t think that would have mattered with these traitors.

World News@lemmy.world•Germany issues warning for transgender & nonbinary people traveling to the U.S.English
2·1 year agoI hear you, and I appreciate the way you’ve articulated this. It’s beyond disheartening to see how science and rational discussion are being undermined, often for political gain. For over 30 years, Fox News has manipulated large swaths of the American population into rejecting science, common sense, and even empathy for their own neighbors, friends, and family. It’s frustrating to see so much energy spent on manufactured outrage while real issues are ignored. Just wanted to send my support and appreciation for your perspective.
e: oof. Mods removed my “You’ve perfectly articulated my thoughts as well.” comment which ended up getting -7 points. They’ve also removed a lot of other comments in our conversations, I’m assuming because they violated rule #4, #5, or #6. I’m assuming they thought mine was low effort posting, but I’m not sure. Either way, as was my intent with the first comment, I’m very impressed with your ability to articulate your perspective.
e2: I was banned for Transphobia! I can’t articulate how absurd that is. 🥚

1·1 year agoMy understanding of HRT is that it it changes your muscle density, among other things. Although studies have shown they may still retain higher levels of muscle mass and strength. Anecdotally, a friend of mine is no where near as strong as they were before HRT. I know they were quite shocked when they realized they could no longer lift things they were once able to carry before transitioning.

It’s an addiction, like being addicted to heroin. We should have done an intervention long ago, but the addicts are running the show. And capitalism seems to favor and promote the addicts so we have a feedback loop that I fear cannot be stopped.

News@lemmy.world•Elon Musk Calls on Trump to Pardon Ex-Cop Derek Chauvin, Who Murdered George Floyd
51·1 year agoThis. I’m convinced at this point they’re attempting to instigate riots so they can declare material law and seize full control over the US government.

Were left-handed people attacking the rest of the population’s way of life? Before left-handed scissors, only a fraction of a percent of people identified as left handed, after, it skyrocketed to 10%. Why? Because left-handers were stigmatized and attacked (sometimes literally) so hid their true selves. It was only when society accepted left-handedness, that they felt comfortable being left handed in the open. So I ask again, were left-handed people attacking right-handers by wanting to be accepted in society? No. Fuck no. Society learned and adjusted to accommodate and accept and it became normal. This whole trans in sports argument is utterly assanine. You adjust the rules so things are fair and you’re not discriminating against a minority. Schools used to have separate entrances for girls and boys. Seems ridiculous now, but I’m sure made perfect sense to the people of those times. One day, after society adjusts, we’ll look back at these anti-trans mentalities in the same way we do about gender segregated school entrances. Utter silliness. “Attacking the main populations way of life”, how is this any different than the civil rights movement of the 60’s? One might consider that the black community was attacking the white populations way of life, but I think most of us can see the absurdity in that way of thinking.
