FYI Izzy got permabanned for stating this opinion. That’s really insane.

2·3 年前I’m all for banning guns.
But I am NOT interested in simply removing a person’s capacity to kill themselves and then leaving their desire to kill themselves intact… and then ignoring the conditions that are making hordes of people depressed enough to kill themselves.
I’m also 100% interested in the people who are depressed but who aren’t suicidal. I want people to live their best lives. This conversation should be about them, about what’s causing this about whether we can help. I want to know what’s wrong. I want them to stop wanting to kill themselves.

6·3 年前I 100% agree but I still appreciate anarchism as a critical position. Not a system to actually implement, but a criticism of the corrupt nature of the current regime.
I’m not an anarchist but I’d miss their perspectives if they weren’t around.

11·3 年前The fact that public healthcare probably won’t happen is different from the argument that we should trust predatory insurance companies.
Plus you don’t have to go to China for public health care. You could go to Canada or the UK, obviously. And they’re capitalist as fuck. Although capitalism will likely get rid of their public healthcare eventually, they haven’t succeeded yet.

44·3 年前Where are you getting this 2a stuff from? How is it even related? Nobody said that guns will save the USA from suicides and overdoses. You’re talking nonsense.
And who is “angry for no reason?” You’re the one angry at men who are killing themselves. This is super weird and cruel.

810·3 年前The enormous numbers of people killing themselves are not necessarily buying guns or hating minorities. And therapy can only respond to pre-exisitng problems. If there are society-wide problems creating terrible living conditions, we need a society-wide prevention scheme.
Or you can spew vile hatred and pretend it’s because you’re against hatred.

922·3 年前Ugh. In these comments I see we’ve evolved from “men should man up and stop whining” to “men should stop manning up and theoretically start whining, but in practice still stop whining actually.”
It’s not their attitudes causing massive increases in suicides and deaths of despair, you fools. It’s material conditions. And it’s not caused by the right wing trolls who might try to take advantage. shoeonhead got it right imo
Edit:
I just read the article and it’s one of the stupidest and most beligerently ideological things I’ve ever read.

The only problem with people being on food stamps is that their jobs either aren’t paying enough or there aren’t enough jobs. But it’s 100% excellent that food stamps are available.
If he wants to encourage people to eat healthy then that would be a fine song I guess. But he’s talking about restricting snacks for fat people in a song about how rich people are ruining his life. Just admit that it’s fucking stupid. Fat people eating snacks are not ruining his life.
What’s the relevance of “obese” and “300 pounds” people specifically eating gov’t fudge when no reference was made to them making $80k or otherwise not being poor?
He is actually just stereotypically misrepresenting the social safety net as being government fudge for fat people. It’s fucking stupid. Don’t let this be the icon of libertarianism.
His political ideology is 100% the point of the song. It’s the only thing he’s singing about.
You’re acting like he did an instrumental song and people ridiculed him for past behavior instead. No. He’s complaining that poor fat people eating government fudge is ruining his life lol. He’s a fucking moron.
Let’s be more specific and find out how much public money was spent on sugarry snacks for fat people, which is his ridiculous complaint. I’ll assume we’re not psychopaths who are generally against a social safety net.

3·3 年前I love the first few episodes, I prefer babyface riker, and I think Dick Picard was a cool badass who I fully support.
But they should have kept Crusher, and the political conflicts were a ridiculous joke epitomized by the cartoonish ferengi. S3 gave us much better aesthetics and politics (though the new character driven storytelling might be a matter of taste).

It’s not even mean. And this isn’t some niche sub specifically about Sync. It’s the most generic sub imaginable. Are they paid by Sync?
