Devs please stop making apps big, CPU/RAM heavy. Apps like Facebook/Instagram should be shamed they are 1GB each.

Facebook and instagram don’t care. They have grown complacent. People will use their apps regardless of how much battery it will use. Are you willing to stop using bloated apps until they improve?

Phone/SoC reviews are a scam, they say SD 363 is 50% better than SD 625. I don’t think it is a very big leak from SD625 to 7s Gen 2.

7s gen 2 was released in 2023. The cortex A78 cores used were launched in 2020. They are old plus the soc was not that powerful to begin with. If you want to run battery hogs like instagram and facebook be ready to sacrifice performance and battery.

I think I am going to boycott high tier phones.

You should instead buy a good upper midrange or high end phone once and upgrade only after the current phone stops receiving updates. Smartphones have become very mature and don’t bring ground breaking changes any more.

  • If your phone is powerful enough you can try shots studio app. It uses an AI model either in the cloud with your API key or locally on your device if you are patient and have a strong phone.

Its primarily for auto organizing screenshots but you can do that for photos too. So, after creating some albums in the app and adding photos to it. It will try to add similar photos to them in the future.

Or if you want a primary gallery app try gallery from fdroid/github or play store.

It has an image classification feature which can help with search.

  • I agree with all your points except

    1. They run worse than Firefox based browsers in my experience

It has been proven many times chrome is better optimized on android vs firefox. If I didn’t care about addons, privacy and the bottom navigation bar i would be using a chromium fork. They are that fast and bugfree especially on graphics heavy websites. The lag and speed difference is very much noticeable on low-end and midrange phones. Infact i was daily driving bromite until it stopped getting updated.
