I imagine even if they tried to make a run with the ads, different people who were sociopathic would have still gained the monopoly.
The building of that monopoly required criminal minds
Long term computer programmer, making my own library. American based. Far left politically. Promotes use of paper ballots. Follows news about environmental collapse, political corruption in my country, human rights, science and tech.

Repeating once again to anybody who wants to participate in mainstream USA politics that there are two hurdles to any real change.
1: Most states have hidden electronic vote counts which are not double checked and flunk anti cheating tests; this applies to primaries of both parties and general elections. All offices
2: Even real democracy can only go so far to improve conditions here.

I would get new sleep but I need a third job to afford it

I’m half expecting the Genocider 3000 to be marketed soon

I understand why people on lemmy look at the outlook subreddit. Sometimes they have to use it at work, and outlook breaks in difficult to understand ways. Poor chaps
I’ve become spoiled. Whenever I have too many open tabs I ceremoniously burn my computer and get a new one. Very satisfying

Who on lemmy uses outlook???
Silly people here having arguments like they exist in a democracy that will change their lives for the better if only smart choices were made.
I agree, there are a few sequels I liked on their own merits. But the majority of the ones are just as you said.
That said, I have a weakness for space ship drama. Can’t be too much of that. So some sequels really don’t need much of a plot, rhyme or reason. I’ll spend my money on them.

Yea, it’s nice; I’ve coded with it.
Rails just never hit the mainstream. That might be because it never had many powerful sponsors. There are some clever people and big companies that think it’s good to use. But I think the support is too scattered to attract an increase of use, so it languishes in the ecosystems.
And having hundreds of well maintained libraries will be the only way it can get popular now. And it cannot attract the new programmers in sufficient quantity to do that. And it cannot increase its sponsors until it has it.
So, it will remain a very cool thing most people won’t use

I think I do not understand American politics. Given that federal politics are mostly hidden vote counts manipulated by people. Is this new group hopelessly out of touch or is there a grift where I don’t know how it works ?

I understand this is a vast overreach of power and something bad.
But with thousands of systems failing in the nation, and hundreds of political scandals just as bad that were not reported by ABC news. I’m happy to watch them fight, as a little treat, while the nation falls down .
But they will not fight, they will fold and people will forget about it soon enough. And I will not have my enjoyment

Ruby on Rails was always fringe but will always have its advocates

How in the fuck can they restrict software download? This is impossible to do.
This is possible if the government continues its path

Also, Iran said it would not negotiate with these two

That’s because this news site is owned by a multinational company, which owns several other publications. They sell advertising and not reform

6, maybe 7 people could?
I think all grown Americans have some form of collective guilt, even though there are no mechanisms to create change.
