Work profiles are a big sticking point for tech workers I think. Apparently some have got it to work, but my org’s didn’t. I think if your company uses MAM instead of MDM you might have better luck, but I couldn’t get Intune to set up the work profile correctly. I started carrying a phone size ereader everywhere so I just set up work stuff on that, but even then managing wifi for the second device is a pain.

Vehicle loans are the antichrist
Not better. It’s meant for a different niche. The veilid network is not a proxy, but is an anonimized by default network of its own that uses internet infrastructure but does not interact with the traditional web. There are also differences in the private routing, primarily the decision to let sources and destinations both choose part of the chain of chain of nodes traffic is routed through. Again, the idea is to build it into apps rather than putting the responsibility of hiding your ip and identity on the user.
In a similar but different vein I feel the need to callout veilid. https://veilid.com/ It’s like tor meets IPFS except no crypto involved. The idea is it’s an anonymous network and data storage scheme that’s meant to allow developers to make apps which don’t require server infrastructure and associated costs. They want functional easy to use apps to have strong privacy protections baked in instead of bolted on after by powerusers.

Personally I saw DS9. Obrien in front with manic bashir in back.

Interesting that they describe it as epaper-like. Pebbles are widely called epaper, but are RLCD. And I’m 100% with you, RLCD deserves more love. Kinda surprising we haven’t seen more given the color ereader popularity and resolution downsides. Pebble is a good example of RLCD over e-ink. There’s no way the eink of the time could’ve done those smooth animations. Even today it’d be tricky.
Really appreciate people calling these out. Community values are an important differentiator for the fediverse. I hope we will stand together for authenticity.

Democrat’s spines, already known to be weak, now appear to be nothing but jello.

Ruled is the wrong word for a medical examiners determination. Makes it sound like a judge, but DHS will make sure this is never before one.

Yeah, the fact this would affect my class 1 ebike really pisses me off.
It’s not for everyone and certainly some applications aren’t available, but I’ve been surprised how well a tablet can substitute for a laptop. Plus I use GrapheneOS on a pixel tablet so it’s arguably more secure than your average linux laptop.

Thanks for the info. Living in the US without a car I’m left wondering how much time it takes for me to use my share. I’d wager I haven’t passed it yet but I’m not naive enough to think it’s much more than a month.
Hijacking but I need to get this out of my system:
I was in a bar earlier and went into an all gender single stall restroom. It had a urinal with an absurd amount of pubic hair on the rim. I couldn’t shake the idea of women seeing it as one of the few urinals they’ve run across. No ladies, that is not normal.
I’ll sooner take to the hills than flee this place. Too much blood has been spilt to give up on a better future.

Digital solidarity will be essential as we move forward. We will need both social solutions which facilitate community technical support and engineered solutions which make that support more effective. I like to imagine systems of distributed sever management where we build upon the computational capacity of those around us and the human capacity of those that care for them. I want to rely on people I love instead of opaque tech firms that only care about money. Compute power must not defeat humanity.
It started as fuck spez, but I’ve learned the value of opposing homogeneity online and I will never go back.

New years was a practice round. The moment I see he’s dead in the news I’m banging pots and pans and cheering at the top of my lungs.
Saw a car rear end a bike in a bus+bike only lane hard enough to put him on their hood. Guess somehow the bike wasn’t damaged and they decided to just let the driver go. So the driver in the through only bus lane proceeded to turn right across two right turn lanes with limited visibility, followed by another driver turning right from the lane to their left and the two narrowly avoiding a collision. If you’re hit by a reckless driver they need to be held accountable so they don’t hurt others.
🙋Present. I happened to break that wrist too so this is what mine looks like.
