Well, they’ve been fucking everyone over, minus the wealthy, since Day 1.

6·2 days agoGood ole brute force is the best method, though, as you said, targeting is a huge problem. Basically you need a low Earth orbit shotgun.

politics @lemmy.world•Supreme Court appears ready to make voting even harder
5·3 days agoI’d still have to pay for a place to live and food and, without getting a work visa ahead of time, unable to work legally. There is the digital nomad route, but the good ones do require training/expertise, such as programming or medicine.
Is it doable? Yes. It just takes planning and preparation, which I’m doing what I can while I’m looking for work.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is school cafeteria food in America trash?
8·3 days agoSchools are run by cities, counties, with oversight and regulations divided between every level, all the way to Federal.
There are minimum standards set for nutrition but many kinds of schools are exempt from providing meals or meeting the minimum.
Some schools go above and beyond, providing nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and snacks that the students can take home. Others, on the other hand, see it as a hassle and do the bare minimum.
Many US schools are misfunded, with many layers of unneeded bureaucracy and testing added, pulling resources away from the classroom and cafeteria.

Funny@sh.itjust.works•Might be breaking an NDA by posting this but I got invited to the "ebay kitchen beta" and everyone needs to see this
1·4 days agoWhere I live does have “cottage food laws.” You have to have a food handler’s permit and pass an inspection. The types of permitted foods is restricted as well.
You can’t sell anything that is time/temperature controlled for safety.
One example regulation is for sourdough starter. It must have a pH of 4 or less and that has to be laboratory certified.

6·4 days agoUnfortunately, I do not. It’s because the person who introduced me to it was trying to make it themselves and were full of false confidence. It always tasted like old cole slaw that had been rinsed in the sink.
I might give it another go, however.

I watched the video and it’s pretty objective, just being an analysis of the situation. It focuses on the numbers and strategies. No sympathy shown.
I can see the moderator taking your statement about wasting lives as “sympathetic” because their view is probably along the lines of “all Russian soldiers are guilty and must be killed without mercy.”
This sort of dehumanization is not acceptable as more and more of the Russian army is filled with people being taken advantage of or being sent at gunpoint.
I’m not saying they’re all innocent bystanders. There’s still plenty who want to be there, for some reason or another, but, ultimately, every Russian soldier is a tool of the elites and they, no matter their citizenship, are the real enemy.
