Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some social media platforms everyone should know?
14·2 days agoI heard that place is full of nerds.
Good idea - even if just to prompt discussion and suggest the book to others.
Maybe just a Book of the Week with key quotes etc?
Non-violence works collectively. The problem is people are wet blankets.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it possible to get the information you need from people without going into details, even if it's something complicated like politics or history?
8·5 days agoSay the incorrect answer out loud. People are quicker to correct someone than to share knowledge.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•"AI"/LLMs are a great tool to find recommendations on movies/tv/anime/songs etc... since there's not much harm if you don't like it ("truthfulness" is not as important in this context)English

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone else have a read-only feed? Is that just me, or am I on the wrong Lemmy client/instance?🤔

I’m not sure what Hasan does can be classed as creative work dude.
Bingo. People who are mourning want you, not your words.
Guy who lost their mum here. So many people told me how I should and shouldn’t feel. It annoyed the crap out of me. Let them know that how they feel is absolutely a valid and understandable way to feel. Do not try to correct them or change how they are - just tell them they are loved and you are there for them.
And whatever you do do not make them feel like their sadness is an inconvenience to you. I got that thrown at me quite a bit and it made me feel so much worse and stalled any attempt at mourning.

2·10 days agoCube 2 is an obscure gem for me. I really like ‘where are we and how did we get here?’ horror movies. Not sure if you saw Cube 3 but it was… not aa good, lmao.

3·11 days agoI put my 500+ collection of DVDs into several of those old CD storage sleeves cases you used to see back in the 90s. They are safe and sound, ready for when things go too far.
(Sorry for word-salad, can’t type this morning)
I figure that hierarchy only works if it has full-and-consistent consent of everyone within it. So for example if it was 20 people and electrical decisions were being made, and there was one electrician, people would collectively vote that guy to be in charge of electrics.
Within the current system, for example, we have no direct vote over having 70 year old boomers with no experience using the internet (outside of sending emails to their mate Jeff) making decisions that completely disrupt the way the internet it used. This is where anarchy is arguably far better.

That implies that you can’t have any rights unless the government says you can have them.

I personally don’t think people should be shot for things they say. I think watching an old, decrepit Kirk fade into obscurity would be a lot more satisfying.
