Would be cool if they were trained in de-escalation.
It’s the whole point of the Defund The Police movement, as every time a cop showed up, they only amplified the violence and threat.
Someone off their meds, get the cops called, and now you have a dead person.
Ah to be a bootlicker.
Phase 1: “They have a criminal history/illegal.”
Phase 2: “They threatened our boys in blue!”
Phase 3: “They should have complied.”
Phase 4: “Well they shouldn’t have been there.”
Phase 5: (leopard ate their face)

Technology@lemmy.world•Stack Overflow in freefall: 78 percent drop in number of questionsEnglish
181·2 days agoI was contributing to SO in 2014-2017 when my job wanted our engineers to be more “visible” online.
I was in the top 3% and it made me realize how incredibly small the community was. I was probably answering like 5 questions a week. It wasn’t hard. For some perspective, I’m making like 4-5 posts on Lemmy A DAY.
What made me really pissed was how often a new person would give a really good answer, then some top 1% chucklefuck would literally take that answer, rewrite it, and then have it appear as the top answer. And that happened to me constantly. But again, I didn’t care since I’m just doing this to show my company I’m a “good lil engineer”.
I stopped participating because of how they treated new users. And around 2020(?), SO made a pledge to be not so douchy and actually allow new users to ask questions. But that 1% chucklefuck crew was still allowed to wave their dicks around and stomp on people’s answers. So yeah, less “Duplicate questions”, more “This has been answered already [link to their own answer that they stole]”.
So they removed the toxic attitude with asking questions, but not the toxicity when answering. SO still had the most sweaty people control responses, including editing/deleting them. And you can’t grow a community like that.
ByteOnBikes@discuss.onlineOPtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•Which healthcare would you choose?
85·3 days agoMy American healthcare:
-
Its so much more expensive under Trump. It went from $250/month for my family, to now $1100/month.
-
My kid hurt themselves and we were in the urgent care waiting area for 2 hours. Then a professional looked him over, said they’ll be fine, and gave us some expensive pain killer pills.
-
I have to schedule my appointments 4-6 months in advance.
-
I had to get a referral for some health services and after two weeks, they finally had a slot to actually start scheduling the appointment. Then they asked about my insurance and told me that they are out-of-network, and recommended another practice. I now have to wait another few more weeks, just to hopefully be seen.

I feel like the manosphere is so loud right now that average dudes is caught in the crossfire. All I can do is politely apologize on behalf men for all the toxicity. Which again, a tiny fraction of the many things going on in the world.

Ive been helping my unemployed ex-teammates find work and stay motivated.
My wife’s side of the family messed up on their paperwork and because they’re also dark skinned, I’m worried about ICE.
I took my other kid to the park last week and was called a sexual predator by another mom. Ive been pretending to be okay as the women in my family all blame me for “looking how I look”.
My cousins have called me twice in the past month concerned about bills, and I’m sending them food money.
Oh and the Europeans on Lemmy is yelling at me for being an American because I’m not doing enough to stop Trump.

26·4 days agoIts reducing porn usage
Not certain this is true.
-
Brits are watching porn on non-age verification sites, which don’t have stats that they have to share with
-
Brits are bypassing age verification through other means (like VPN).
This is like when America bragged that COVID numbers were low. Because we stopped testing. Funny how that works.

9·4 days agoMy cousins live in the south. They chose that area because, in their words, it’s “expensive” where I live.
Last week, they vented about the housing prices and groceries. Their house market is now the same price as the housing in my “expensive” area. But their area also has federal min wage at $7.25 an hour. Where my city is double.

Root, whose identity remains unknown, published the leaked data on a site she created called okstupid.lol, a play on mainstream dating service OkCupid. A subset of user profiles is now browsable via an interactive map, while the full dataset has been archived through Distributed Denial of Secrets (DDoSecrets), a whistleblower platform known for hosting sensitive leaks.

I’m so glad that so many fast food chains are disappearing in my city. There’s so much local cuisine here.

Kinda came to say this. I’m all for having fun bashing AI, but we’re literally on the internet of which also has CP on it.
