I think that’s what they’re going for, that the person is still there and can be revived from the hivemind by jamming the signal. My guess for season 2 is that they do get Carol into the hivemind and it’ll be up to Manousos to bring her back.
Just watch out, some phone providers will disconnect you after a few hours on a call. During the pandemic when there were a lot of people unemployed and there were long waits for unemployment insurance offices, there were stories of people waiting on hold for 6 hours or more, and then getting disconnected, losing their place in line.
They are often also recording/transcribing the conversation when they put you on hold as well, and summarizing the call for the agent based on the transcript. When my ISP raises internet prices, I always have to call them to get the increase reversed. When I’m waiting on hold, i pretend to talk to my partner saying what my desired price is and that i’ll call a competitor afterwards if they can’t match so that gets summarized for the agent.
If they have an ad read in the video, like a creator saying the video is sponsored by XYZ Corp, those could also be paid based on views of the video (in addition to the ad impressions by YouTube). Those ads are handled externally from YouTube’s ad platform, but they do rely on YouTube analytics and views being reported as legitimate.

Yeah, Honey is just exacerbating the inherent flaws in the system, and most of it can be dealt with having a limit of coupon usage and expiration of the coupons.
The thing which really upset me is advertisers pulling money from podcasts which have referral codes because of abuse from Honey. I’m not a fan of advertisements, but the referal codes were a simple solution since there’s no way to accurately measure if an ad was listened to. Honey causing advertisers to pull support for podcasts just pushes podcasts to closed ecosystems with more tracking and analytics, and takes money away from Podcasters.

I don’t think he does any podcasts anymore. He stepped away from Cortex about 6 months ago, and Hello Internet has been gone for years now. Agreed with maintaining upload quality and sacrificing frequency, which had been the status quo for years, but i’m afraid the channel is more abandoned now.
