Speaking as a neurodivergent person, this is stupid. This is really stupid.

I am fine with being labeled as “cruel” if it makes you want to work harder to expand your capability to socialize and exercise your brain muscles to put yourself in uncomfortable situations.

If being around healthy couples is triggering to you, that’s massively on you and your responsibility to manage.

This is what a therapist would tell you to do, this is something you can do, and this is something you need to do. Society will not adjust to your unique problems, I am very thoroughly experienced in this hard fact of life. The world will be far, FAR more cruel to you than people on the internet telling you indirectly get your shit together.

    Phrasing matters.

Nah, sorry… if this bothers you at all, you have hangups. People talk all the time about their plans for their relationships or future, if you can’t deal with that without having sexual imagery planted into your head, that’s a skill issue. Or maybe a deeper issue that actually does need to be addressed, OCD is a branch of anxiety disorder and are often treated similarly. A lot of people live with OCD and the uninvited thoughts and images it can put in your mind without realizing it’s even a condition and just assume they’re “anxious” but get more and more obsessed with certain words, situations or imagery they can’t shut out.

  • They know they have limited time and are running out of opportunities to do all their fascist nonsense so they’re cramming it all in as fast as possible.

This is all great, it’s a sign that the whole debacle is crumbling. I have no idea what’s going to happen with Greenland, but whatever the outcome it won’t impact the US any worse than what we’re already experiencing.

But we have a day of great celebration ahead of us, and most bets place that day as happening sometime this year.

  • To yell at delusional leftists who are misrepresenting progressive ideals and actions and roleplaying online instead of going out and making friends and reforming community, the thing we desperately need to combat actual fascism. I hate the circle-jerking and avoidant-personalities being allowed to thrive without pushback. This is bigger than all of us and yet the people with any shred of intelligence are doing everything but what we need to do.

I can’t imagine board-games surviving the age of rotted attention spans.

Maybe they’ll be kept alive in some form for the small subset of autistic gamers who love to arrange and lay out thousands of little markers and plastic troops to stage an invasion on cardboard Poland, but they’ll likely be print-out plans and 3D-printer files you can download for free.

The days of opening up a shrink-wrapped box of tiny markers and dice and gameboards all arranged in a commercially pleasing tray with a thick rulebook are likely going to come to an end.

  • I am obligated every time someone brings up Mussolini to remind everyone that Mussolini was not overthrown and executed by a plucky band of rebels who raided the capital, his removal from power and subsequent arrest was performed by his own government and the king of Italy at the time.

Mussolini was facing growing political and social disapproval and the rioting and insurgency happing throughout italy made the country lose faith in him, as well as the coming storm of allied nations getting closer and closer to Italy prompted his own government to depose him and hand him over to the opposition.

We can still beat this through political means, and kind of need to, otherwise we don’t have an actual army behind us, we don’t have a leader or support from anyone, we don’t have secure coordination nor popular enough public sentiment to have anything close to a rebellion or coup. Yet.

And even if all that did come together, we would need a plan to deal with the fact that even if we solved everything and got rid of every last fascist in power in the USA, we still have to live next to the tens of millions of people who didn’t want this action nor vote for it, people who have a lot of community power, social capital and vast stockpiles of weapons and ammunition.

You want to defeat this, you have to hunker down and get involved in your community. Hold protests, march, yes if enough people are getting together go ahead and demonstrate your willingness to disrupt the system. But the best thing you can do is form social connections and get enough people demanding better local and state representation. We need community back, less sheltered, atomized world-views and more broad-scale opposition.

  • The problem has far less to do with reliable methods of authentication and far more to do with social attitudes and atomization.

Not nearly enough people on either side of the ideological spectrum are going to use tools to verify a picture or video’s authenticity, because we can do that now relatively easily, and people don’t do it now. I can’t imagine people are going to trust anything that contradicts their own narratives.

For example, the people who most need to use fact-checking websites are now swearing off the use fact-checking and calling places like Snopes scams and left-wing propaganda.

We could do more good broadly for society just by being more socially involved and provide our friends, neighbors and community with better narratives to follow and better crusades to get involved with… and I can give a hint who’s keeping people going at each other’s throats so we don’t focus on the actual source of our society’s decay. They rhyme with “illionaires” and start with an M or a B.

  • Even if it worked, and it probably won’t because we don’t have blockchain encryption for image/video data, image files would be astronomically larger in size than the relatively small confirmations made for bitcoins, but it may be possible if clever people devoted to it.

The problem though is much bigger than “verifying” an image’s authenticity. 99% of people are not going to go to a website to learn how to do some new thing to verify the authenticity of an image that confirms and validates positions they already hold.

We can usually figure out how real material is still right now, but people don’t do that now, they’re not going to do it if you set up an extra step to check for every image, our age of intellectual politics and good-faith social discourse is over. It’s sad, it sucks, but this is the consequence of an unevolved primate creating advanced information sharing systems. It will be exploited to influence the monkeys every damn time.

This whole post seems like bait for drawing out nationalists.

It utterly ignores the vast, vast spectrum of space exploration and discoveries that many other nations have contributed, as well as the US’s ongoing progress towards a permanent space presence after the USSR collapsed. And all it, from the advancements of Russia in the 60’s and 70’s up through today to India and China and ESA exploring our solar system as the US collapses er, scales back from the frontier of science and exploration. It’s all worth celebrating and being glad happened in our lives so we get to see amazing sights and learn amazing things about our local space neighborhood.

If you take pride in shit you didn’t personally do and feel others are inferior for not achieving your own measure of success, you’re setting yourself up for being a mindless chud and girls will never touch your weewee.

  • People broadly don’t think social issues are going to effect them personally and are real good at making excuses for stability and comfort. It’s not that American Asian women are broadly “self hating” in fact it’s usually the exact opposite, they are very strong, prideful people which is where the meme comes from making fun of incels for thinking asian women are submissive.

I don’t know what brings a couple like this together, I’m sure it’s complicated, but I have strong feeling that she’s filipina, and if I know anything it’s that she is haaaaating this media attention and social shaming, and as a result is making this dude’s life hell. It’s not nearly enough but I do delight in the fact that they’re both suffering together on this front.

  • Fun Fact, if you hit the drop-down by the breadcrumbs under a username you can read a user’s moderation history and see what they said that got removed 🤓

While morally I cannot agree with the take, I would LOVE to see people even halfway motivated to take their marches directly to the seats of power. There are only a couple dozen thousand ICE agents in the whole country, we outnumber them by MILLIONS and could literally drag them off the streets, pull off their gear and tie them up and like, stash them in our basements with a bike lock around the neck Breaking Bad style and stop the injustice tomorrow if we all unified. (We feed them sandwiches on plastic plates though, lesson learned.)

  • None of it matters at all, it’s never been about race specifically, it’s about power and control and insecurity. These are the factors that turn people into murderers. Race is always just a convenient decoy they can point at.

Race is connected just in that most of these fucksticks are deeply insecure about someone of another race being more exotic and attractive to their girlfriends, and that sexual insecurity just manifests as this bottomless well of hate and anger, because that’s the only kind of emotion they think they can have as men.

But really, through all of history the people who persecute the people of different races or ethnicities have often also taken advantage of or been deeply attracted to those people as well, and it becomes this toxic well of shame and hate. Stephen Miller is jewish. Vance has to apologize for his wife being Hindu. The leader of the Proud Boys was hispanic. Don’t try to make any of it make sense, just understand that these are not thinking people, if they could think through their problems we wouldn’t be in this mess to begin with.

  • This is the shit they fear the most, the “great replacement,” that their race and heritage will be replaced by people of color and they will lose their culture…

Sorry, no, I’m being told that it’s actually that they’re actually just very, very, VERY scared that their hypothetical girlfriends are going to be more attracted to people with ethnic and cultural backgrounds that make them more social, cheerful and pleasant to be around, to say nothing of stereotypes of athleticism and physical prowess that many people of color are associated with.

These guys don’t even know what it means to be a race or have a heritage, they’re mostly hung up on Hearts of Iron IV and 4-chan political memes and anti-feminism, THAT is their entire culture. That and masturbating furiously while imagining some cuckold fantasy about their, again mythical, girlfriends being railed by a gorgeous black man while they’re tied to a chair and forced to watch. (There’s a reason that kind of porn became so incredibly popular as the right in America started to rise in prominence, and why the insult “cuck” has such power and meaning to them, but not to healthy, normal people.)

It’s all sexual insecurity and shame, all the way down, forever. It’s been the heart of fascism since time began. This is all just more of it.

  • The good news is time paradoxes are impossible, you always are in your own universe and there’s no such thing as the past and future as “places” you can travel to. You see dinosaurs? Go ahead and saddle up, you can’t possibly break anything.

Current scientific theories that propose time travel is even remotely possible describe the system as more of a wormhole connecting two points in time/space. One entrance would be moving at relativistic velocity relative to the other opening, or orbiting a black hole or other super dense object, this would create a small delay between one opening and the other that would grow longer and longer over time, meaning in theory you could go back through the wormhole and come out at a point further back in time.

The catch is you couldn’t travel back in time further than when the wormhole was constructed.

Setting aside the fact that it may be impossible to make wormholes entirely, the other catch is this is probably as impossible as moving faster than light, meaning it’s kind of “nonsense” to talk about. Time as we know it is just evolution of entropy, motion of particles and their relative states. If you found a way to “wind back” this evolutionary motion, you wouldn’t be traveling in time as much as reconstructing some idea stored in your own memory. Meaning, no altering the past to affect the future.

The best you can hope for is making some kind of gateway to some other universe that’s almost identical but just out of synch with our own time-frame so it appears to exist in a prior state. Assuming multiple universes even exist. This may also be a deeply “human” idea that we just invented because we have geographic brains that think of time and space as physical things.

  • Our problem is the mainstream media that most of America gets their news and information from are all bought by the same donor-class that owns the government, and they are RIGHT NOW having “experts” on the daytime talk shows and news programs telling viewers that Good struck an agent with her car and that “maybe” “some” of the gunshots to her head were unnecessary but that more investigation is needed.

Do not trust that people will use their eyes. People don’t see with their eyes. All of our perceptions of the world are filtered through our feelings, and for most people, it feels too inconvenient to believe this horrendous act was what it actually was, because that would mean having to do something, having to sacrifice time and energy to get involved, to seek justice.

Nobody wants to do that anymore. People want to hide inside and scroll.
