This might be me being kind of pedantic, but this might actually be adwaita instead of LO. I’ve noticed on RNote (a GTK app that uses adwaita), that the save icon is as you described, whereas on KDE’s breeze and oxygen icon themes (and I’m sure many others), the save icon is still a floppy.

I found that deskflow is a great replacement for wayland systems. I think it can even talk to barrier!

I am using an application called “Jan AI” for this exact thing. it runs completely locally, and you can make your own assistants. I have a converation therapy assistant that I made with the help of the main ai, and it helps.

I’d also recommend the A series (I got recommended the A1 from a friend when I was starting out), and it’s been pretty great so far. As for the slicers, I know you can use OrcaSlicer with Bambu printers (as well as with a ton of others too)

P.S. You don’t need a WiFi card to use KDE Connect. I have it set up on my desktop (Ethernet only), and it works perfectly. I think you do have to make sure that it connects through the same router that the wired connection uses.

On a sidenote to that, if you install kde-config-flatpak, it enables a permissions management page in system settings, similar to flatseal I believe. I haven’t been able to try it out myself, so I don’t know how well it works.

The current Virtual Keyboard solution on KDE ( maliit ) isn’t working quite as much as i’d like. It only works on GTK apps, and only sometimes shows. When it does, it won’t relaunch after dismissal untill you kill it. Add to that it’s not as feature-dense as its windows alternatives.

I hear that they are working on their own plasma-keyboard, and I hope that will fix most of these issues, but I haven’t had the tim to update my system.

I installed power-profiles-daemon on my laptop (and configured it in the settings) a while back and noticed a bit better battery life. Maybe it could also be the kernel? I updated mine a while back and there was also an improvement.

Perhaps for the phone you could try something like KDE Connect. You have to be on the same wifi, but once connected, you can do things like remote input, sharing the clipboard, sending sms, sending files, and you can browse files from the PC.

I am currently using dolphin, and I would highly recommend. I tried xfe before. It’s highly customizable, but opening files was king of annoying  (you had to manually input the path of the application)

Yeah, that is a big plus too (that, and the federation). This can hopefully mean that lemmy can never turn into what reddit currently is.

I was browsing around on r/kde sometimes, and there was a banner-thing Saying that KDE Supported open platforms like Lemmy. I took a look at Lemmy’s Wikipedia, and browsed around a few days later. I liked the stuff on c/programmerhumour, So I joined. Also my Reddit account got banned (i think, might be deactivated, idk) due to inactivity (I wasn’t on for 2-3 years), and I didn’t care to do anything about it. Also, as a bit of context for the above, it did take a while from hearing about Lemmy and browsing and joining.

I have recently switched to PieFed because it has a faster development cycle and more features (same username).

It might be that they are conflating GenAI with services such as Google Assistant ot Siri. Though I personally find that Google Assistant is/was more useful that their GenAI implementation (Gemini).

There are remotes for PC. I have one right now, and they are pretty cheap in Amazon. One nice thing is that they can also do limited control of the TV (through IR, obv).

One thing to keep in mind is that most identity not all of these remotes have a gyro mouse.

Tipping culture is just so companies can justify paying their workers less [than the minimum wage].
