  • I was indeed thinking of the Detroit school (this city is something else when it comes to music). I’m actually a huge Kraftwerk fan (Trans-Europe Express man, what an album) but although they’re definitely pioneers and inspiration of almost every electronic music genre, I wouldn’t qualify them as techno artists. They’re more a synth-pop / kraut/experimental band, with a lot a vocals and usually slower tempo than proper techno. Same goes with house music, I always thought it was a German thing, but it’s actually another Black American subgenre born in Chicago.

That said, if we really want to go back to the origin of electronic music and instruments, we would be in Germany (sound synthesis) and France (sampling) in the 50s and 60s with the work the elctroacoustic / musique concrete composers like Stockhausen and Pierre Henry (check out Messe pour le Temps Présent, absolut classic). I am totally passionate by all this and actually teach in music history and sound creation at a College in Montreal.

  • Black Americans are the only demographic that massively voted against the pedonald. They are responsible of almost everything americans takes pride in. In music, they invented blues, rock, jazz, techo, hip-hop and much more. In sports, they are the top athletes in many disciplines. In politics, you may not be a fan of Obama’s politics overall, but he was by far the least crazy president USA had over the past 40 years. All of this while being treated as sub-citizens.

  • Giving the reaction to the clear violation of international agreements in Venezuela, and pretty much every country saying it’s ok for the US to invade a country to steal ressouces, I’m not sur what you expect will happen. Greenland will be the official end of NATO and Europe will probably create its own alliance. Knowing Trump’s plan to take Canada, they will obviously chicken out and leave us on our own. Most countries have already, or will soon turn far-right, do you expect these leaders to stand up for anything else than themselves?

  • It will depend on the world’s reaction when he goes for Greenland in a couple of weeks. Most probably nothing will happen so, unless americans sheeps starts a civil war (lol), he will try something on Canada for sure (he already said there’s an energy / electricity crisis, that why I suspect he’ll go for Quebec first). Most Canadians will probably bend over if they’re offered one year of free Amazon delivery and 50% off Netflix. Ford and Smith will collaborate in exchange for being named governors.

  • I can’t understand the amount of energy people spend defending Valve.

I get it, you like video games (so do I) and steam is a convenient platform for transactions.

But, in the end it’s just another dirty capitalist business that only cares about one thing: MAKING MONEY. They literally invented gambling for kids, got watch the coffeezila video about it and they take 30% of any game sold while having sub 300 employees. It’s pretty much the most profitable business per employee in the US.

They do not care about video games, about linux, about the fact that their home country is turning into a fascist state, and most of all, they don’t give a fuck about all the gamers that keeps posting about how great they are. They would change they business model to sell bbq sauce tomorrow if the believe they could make more money out of it. And each time someone points that out, even here, it gets downvoted lol.
