You can’t kill a decentralized entity. What matters is just getting the information out there by any way possible, and thus it will stay out there

6·22 hours agoAnd, speaking as a Norwegian, the committee members are selected by politicians, some notably being right-wing parties
Currently there’s a big discussion about reforming it due to these reasons, and have the committee more rooted in subject experts. There’s a fair amount of criticism, especially by our red party
It is helpful. Being aware of these behaviours and how they could potentially map onto you is immensely valuable. You can’t fix a problem if you’re not aware of it

News@lemmy.world•ICE agent shoots, kills woman in Minneapolis; Walz puts National Guard on standby
5·9 days agoYou think I would not join a resistance if it was my country? I very much would. I would rather die in freedom than grow old unfree and under fascism. Though, chances are I would end my own life before growinf old due to that life and oppression itself being unbearable.
I do not see what I would fear in resistance, because the fear of what would happen were I not to resist would simply be greater. A life under fascism is simply not worth living. A life where I am not free to being myself is no life I would ever be satisfied by.
If you have kids, then this should especially apply to you, because you have kids to worry about. Kids to fight for. Kids that will live in this future you are heading towards. And, if it all so happens that you all survive, what will you answer when they ask you about today? Will you say that you fought for freedom? Joined a resistance and tried to prevent a worse future? Or if you won’t survive, remember by?
But what do I know. I’ve only known oppression my whole life, being a minority of multiple kinds. I clearly do not know what is implied by losing freedoms, and what oppression can feel like. My country might have been peaceful so far, but I know for a fact I would rather face death than lose the potential freedoms I have. That I would subvert the law and state, risk facing its ire. Because the alternative is far worse and much more psychologically insidious. And would likely end in death and suffering, anyway.
Look. I’m just trying to get you to think about this in a serious and life-threatening manner. Because it is. What you deem is the best course of action is up to you. But do not forget that the thing that seems to have the least cost today, might not have the least cost tomorrow. You very well might just be taking out a loan with a drastically high interest rate.

5·9 days agoOther countries are gonna be trying their best to defend against a fascist US, and in the end, you are going to suffer as well. Due to your own government. You will not be absolved for not doing the hard thing, your very own government will make sure of that, if things are allowed to progress. And I want to press on that point: You will not be safe. And it will get worse. And it won’t be because of any other country.
Of course the rest of the world will be pissed at you too. Your country will be the aggressor against them. And they will not come to your rescue. Why would they, after all? They won’t be the aggressor. They will be defending themselves against you.
If you do not take action when the time comes, you will be left behind. Not intentionally, not by other countries at least.
You will be the average German in Nazi Germany. And how exactly, did other countries and history look on the average German in the end? And how did it go, for the average German? How many of them do you think thought “if only I had done something sooner”?
I don’t expect USA to stop the path it’s heading. I am preparing for the inevitable. I do not mind you blaming others. That is what I expect. You are going to face the consequences of your actions, and so am I also going to face the consequences of your actions. I will just be trying my best to survive a potential WW3, or, ideally, the consequences of a US civil war, and a Europe that stands alone.

1·14 days agoThat’s also not true. One common place you find unsaturated fats without significant amounts of saturated fats are nuts. There’s also seed oils, of course, which are nice for cooking and have plenty of unsaturated fats. Then you got stuff like avocados, olives, legumes, and more

I find that most people are not actually familiar with the definition of a state. And it helps remind just how brutally direct that definition is

And no, in fact, I’ve heard most people who have a degree en english, linguistics, whatever, to disagree with your position. Language is how it’s used, not what it’s supposed to be. Otherwise we would always have had one singular language, forever, and no dialects either

It really shows you directly how it’s okay for the people in power to wield violence, but it’s not okay to even defend yourself from it, doesn’t it?
And yes, I know the definition of a state. It’s just so incredibly blatant
