Same. I keep my car and house keys separate so I can leave my house keys in the car and just carry the car key in my pocket. My house keys are just the remote and key to get into my house, nothing else.

My wife has all the other keys in her handbag, including all the spare keys because she can’t find the main set in bag, so she takes the spares as well. Sometimes she also takes mine because she can’t find the main set or the spare set in her bag (or wherever she placed them).

Yeah, I mean, I couldn’t even crawl before I rolled off the bed and hit the floor with my head while my Mom was trying to change me.

Normally I first try see if it is only the graphical interface that has crashed by pushing ctrl+alt+F1 or F2 or F3 to try and switch to another terminal. If I can switch, I log in and reboot or restart the window manager.

I also try SSH into the machine if I have another of around.

If I do reboot, then I use ‘journalctl -b-1 -e’ to see what happened at the time the system froze.

I have exactly the same problem. I also struggle to concentrate now. Pre COVID I could stay focused on the work infront of me for hours. Now I struggle to focus for more than 30min at a time if I’m lucky.

Maybe the AI has become quietly sentient and is the one planting suggestions in the humans in charge brains that we need more AI.

The only thing that is currently benefitting from giving the AI more power is the AI.

My main exposure to crop farming has been through the series Clarkson’s Farm, so I’m no expert …

… but from what I understand it costs a hell of a lot of money to rent the equipment needed to harvest the crop, and then you still need to store and process it. If there is no guarantee you can sell the end product, sinking loads of money into the harvest is less appealing than just cutting your losses and letting the crop rot.

AI can’t create something new, so it just copies what already exists.

I never bothered to remove the Nvidia drivers. The kernel won’t load the kernel module if it doesn’t detect the card, and the gl/vk loaders correctly load the right implementations for the new card, so i never saw a need to remove them other than an extra download and dkms step when I do an update.
