I mean, they pretty clearly did not wear anything or have shame until they sinned. Then they were ashamed of their nakedness and tried to cover themselves with leaves. When God came to them he killed an animal and clothed them with animal skin.

Android@lemdro.id•New Android phone RecommendationsEnglish
4·9 months agoI looked at the Fairphone. Would love to go that route, but unfortunately the price is too high for now (and no headphone jack, lol). Maybe in the future it’ll drop, we’ll see.

3·9 months agoThanks for the reply! The more I read about Asus being scummy the less I want to get the zenfone.
Re: Pixel 9 pro, I figured I should aim for the latest one so I can get the longest time out of it. I see a few different refurbs on ebay for $460-$560 USD. Unlocked ones are ~$570. Generally a pretty cheap way to get decent phones.
Pixel 3a XL. It’s served me well but is a few years outside of updates now.
I’m thinking that a pixel is probably the best bet. Looking into the best way to mod a headphone jack onto it lol.
Why is there a random watermark on an xkcd? The original is here, for anyone who wants the alt text: https://xkcd.com/2943/

Hardware@lemmy.ml•AMD’s $299 Radeon RX 9060 XT brings 8GB or 16GB of RAM to fight the RTX 5060English
1·1 year agoDo you know what resolution that is? I can see that for 4k, maybe 1440p, but if that’s happening for 1080p games have gotten a lot worse than I realized.
I ran a 1070ti for quite a while (8GB), and recently upgraded to a 6700xt (12GB?). Running 1080p 144hz, I pretty much only use that extra vram when I run local LLMs or Stable Diffusion.
More is better, but having 8GB for the “entry level” cards is fine IMO. Better than the 3/4 of the entry in the 1000 series nvidia cards.

21·1 year agoI don’t know, maybe it’s just me having not followed AAA games graphical requirements super closely, but I feel like 8GB at $300 is a killer 1080p card these days?

1·1 year agoThanks for doing this! I’d like Bridge Constructor Portal if it’s still available.
No, that’s Brita.
Better is the name of a commonly kept freshwater fish that’s very territorial against other members of its species.

Being already established, you have a few advantages over the newbies. You know about how a few different instances federate and work, and you know whether or not you like your instance.
Recommend your instance. Or if you wouldn’t, whether because it’s niche or doesn’t work well in general, recommend a generic instance, even if it is .world, because it will probably work and give a good experience.
Oregano?
I mean, that’s really the point. Everybody is suffering and dying because of sin, Jesus came to suffer and die once for all to take away the consequence of sin for all. Of course, if people choose to continue on their own and not accept His atonement on their behalf, they are welcome to continue on as they have been…

EthosLab@lemmy.ca•Wild Life #8 - A Wild & Tuff FinaleEnglish
2·1 year agoEnjoyed the series but I think it helped me nail down my feelings on the Life series.
At the start it was more of a goofy, semi-social pvp game. Kind of helped me scratch that nostalgia itch for UHC while not being super competitive or serious.
As they went on there were new gimmicks to keep things fresh. Still fun, but lost what competitiveness was there and became almost entirely social and roleplay-y. Not bad, but not what I was hoping it would be.
Along the way the rules, gimmicks, and social games introduced a lot of ambiguity (are we friends with them? Am I allowed to kill them? Etc)
I know it’s not good content by today’s YouTube standards, but I’d like to see a straight up, no frills, PVE/PVP event like UHC with the HC folks. Team based, get the banter, even let people edit if they want. Keep the stakes low and deal with the fact that some people are better at the game by teaming them with people who aren’t.
I’ll still watch anything Etho puts out. Maybe I’ll also go back and rewatch old UHCs.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux Sys Admins, do you work on Linux or Windows office laptops?English
12·2 years agoMixed environment, bunch of windows servers and a bunch of Linux servers. I currently run NixOS on my company owned Framework laptop, with the caveat that I have to deal with or work around any weirdness that comes up.
I’ve been wanting for a while now to fix up my config (weird sleep waking issues, broken hibernate, implement full disk encryption) or maybe switch to Fedora. Just haven’t had the time.
Remmina is great for RDP, OnlyOffice preserves Microsoft office formatting well, KDE’s network manager has working VPN connections for Cisco and Palo Alto, and I do a lot from the browser (email, O365 admin, etc).
There is friction, though. As mentioned the sleep issues. Never fun getting to a site and finding a hot, dead laptop in my bag because it decided to wake up and not go back to sleep.
For things that HAVE to be done in Windows I have a VM I haven’t powered on in a months or two, and a “tech” server to rdp to with more network access.
I’d also like to get more familiar with Nix. I can handle system settings and packages from the Nix repositories, but packaging my own software is something I’d like to learn (software and printer drivers for Ubuntu/fedora, etc).

Christian American here. Just about everything Trump has said or done with regards to Christianity since his first campaign (and before) has made it clear that he is in no way a regenerate disciple of Christ. This is not surprising, just more of the same pandering, self-righteous, self a aggrandizing stuff we’ve seen for years.
There’s a concerning culture of what I call Americanism within the American church, where nominal/cultural Christianity is mixed with prosperity gospel/materialism, nationalism, and a bunch of other unbiblical teaching. It truly is idolatry in many forms. Politics are one expression of that, where even good desires are swallowed up into partisanship and division and sold as the lesser of two evils. Leads to all kinds of hypocrisy.
Happy to answer any questions or comments.
