World News@lemmy.world•Andrew Tate indicted for trafficking minors in RomaniaEnglish
8·21 hours agoIn Romania the age is now 16 https://cne.news/article/3356-romania-tightens-law-on-sexual-consent
I still can’t figure out if Icke believes the conspiracies he spreads or not. With some guys it’s obvious Lou just a grift but I actually wonder if he’s just not well.
Anyway, a stopped clock is right twice a day and this is the case here.

China News@news.abolish.capital•Slander over solidarity: the BBC reports a Himalayan disaster
1·2 days agoThis article is actually a pro-China, “nothing to see here” piece claiming that Tibet is a natural part of China, as if there aren’t Tibetan refugees who had to flee due to China.
The BBC is not a reliable news source anymore, true, but Tibet did not end up under the Chinese regime freely.

343·2 days agoSurprised nobody has mentioned Ecosia yet. Web searches there are responsible for planting 250,000,000 trees. I can’t think of a better justification for using a search engine.

World News@lemmy.world•Ben Gvir set to unveil $20bn plan to ethnically cleanse Gaza within seven yearsEnglish
17·2 days agoIsrael’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir will unveil a plan on Thursday to “encourage voluntary emigration from Gaza”, making it a central plank of his election campaign and a key demand for joining any future coalition.
Reduce water supply by 94%, poison and burn their farmlands, rile up Israelis to steal their land and homes under the protection of police and military. Nothing voluntary about this.

We are involved - up to the hilt. I’m trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but are you really making comments like this in good faith?

World News@lemmy.world•EU to gather ‘brightest minds’ to boost defence as Russia threat growsEnglish
12·4 days agoBy not colluding. By following international law. By not gifting lucrative trade deals and contract to genocidal thugs. By not granting special observer status within the EU to a mass-murdering nation. By not trading with settler-colonial ethnostates. By not wishing “happy international friendship day” to Israel on official EU social media accounts. By doing what semi-decent countries, such as South Africa do when there is a bloodbath.
The human reaction to such atrocities - the holocaust of our time - is not: “how do I get in on this”.

I only found out today. It’s a pretty recent change. Romania is possibly the most referred country to the EHCR, so not a great track record there.
