  • Honestly I thought the finale was good. Great? No.

Thinking back on the show I remember it positively. I don’t think I’ll ever be massively eager to rewatch it ever again, but if someone asked me if they should watch it I would say sure give it a go.

It wasn’t a catastrophic ending like Game of Thrones was. That is a show I wouldn’t even bother to sit down and watch knowing how it ended.

  • Many years ago when I was on a trip to America I visited Brick Lane Curry House to do the Phaal challenge. It was described as excruciatingly hot. I’ve had a Phaal in the UK, and suffered through it.

They brought the dish out and it was no hotter than a UK vindaloo. I was quite disappointed when they gave me the Phaal curry monster certificate, I’d genuinely hoped for a challenge.

  • So I’ve seen in a previous job where someone was complaining that a guy was leaving at 4pm to get his kid and how it was unfair just because he had a child.

What that person bitching and moaning didn’t see was that the parent was getting into work MUCH earlier than him, and would regularly log back on when getting home.

Sure there are some parents who take the piss, but there are also plenty of parents that put the hours in and more, they just need a little flexibility because childcare and the associated costs are a fucking joke and society isn’t set up to enable single income families.

  • When the game was first coming out I just knew it was over-hyped and wouldn’t live up to people’s expectations. I avoided it and had so many friends tell me I was wrong. It had the launch that it had and I was smug that my gut feeling was right.

Years later I was bored looking for something to play and saw it had a number of updates and I was able to buy a copy for £8. I thought why not, dirt cheap and could waste a few hours.

    I was hooked.

I love to see the passion of Hello Games in making this game what they envisioned it to be and more. I have got so much out of the game yet looking back I paid so little, if they were to release a paid expansion I would gladly pay it to support them. I will be eagerly awaiting Light no Fire.

  • Everyone usually recommends Mistborn as the entry point. I personally started with the Stormlight Archive (The Way of Kings).

His writing generally gets better with each book, after going from The Stormlight Archive (all the way up to Rhythms of War) and then going over to Mistborn, I noticed a bit of a difference in his writing.

If I were to start all over again, I would go with Mistborn. I thought this flow chart someone made on Reddit to be pretty good.

  • Reading through the third book right now, and either missed or completely forgot the suggestion to try not to follow it, but glad I saw this message because I am often getting confused as to where people are. Still having a blast though! Well written books? Maybe not, but they are very fun.

So far DCC is giving me a nice break from the Cosmere and Sanderson’s in depth world building.

  • This reminds me of one night where a group of friends went out drinking. Just before we were going to leave the pub to go to one further down the road one friend said he needed to take a piss. It triggered something in a bunch of us as most of us realised we needed to go.

The toilets were really busy; that situation where you’re pissing in what is basically a trough with your elbows touching the elbows of other guys next to you. Immediately on trying to go it just wasn’t happening. I stood awkwardly for about a minute, zipped up, washed my hands and went outside.

Everyone gathered round and we started walking. We were walking in silence for about a minute when one guy said “Did anyone else manage to actually pee?” To which loads of us burst out laughing. Turns out we all did the same thing, even though we needed to pee, we all failed to do so.

  • His first day as PM as he sat down at the table in no 10 and gave his speech, he said these words:

“What can we do just to take that little bit of pressure off people’s shoulders just to give them that little extra sense that help is coming, so that they can have that bit of hope that things are getting better”

I’ve emphasised some words in there as his words are indicating that the goal is to give the public something small. I read that as not solving the problems, but just giving us peasants a slither of hope.

When I used to play games online on English speaking servers, and French players would only write in French and people would be complaining, all it took was to write Omelette du fromage for them to quickly switch to English to explain how it’s wrong.
