This sounds so much like Satire. Coming from a real person this sounds so delusional, it makes my schizophrenic ex more coherent during one of their episodes.

Also the house flipping angle (we want a Meeeellion Dollars more than what we paid for two years ago) makes this story even more absurd.

While I agree in principle, the response from the CEO, was: only like 5% of people we give money to are racist Nazi bigots “controversial”, let’s agree to disagree and move on.

Which is massive narcissitic, non-empathic behaviour. It’s giving me less “you don’t matter because soon you’ll be dead”-vibes and more “I am literally unable to understand your concerns and empathise with you”-vibe, which to me personally is much more damning.

…and considerably longer to develop certain aspects of a field. I’ve seen Professors whose work came to fruition 20, 30 years later. It wasn’t the person themselves, but the team they assembled around them ( which also takes lots of time).

I agree about the liability part. My interest was piqued during the so called Twitter files, when reporting was something like the bosses of twitter, Facebook and Wikipedia sat in a weekly (or was it monthly?) meeting, where they were told what controversial topics to “tamp down” on. I found it very weird, especially since I cannot imagine how one “tamps down” on a wikipedia article?

I think the much harder part is how would you go about democratising a website?

Yeah, my working theory is violent narcissists have a much harder time beeing casually violent, so they go ever more totalitarian, because then they can be violent without repercussions again…
