I don’t know if Syncthing is available on iOS but this works great to sync Keepass’s database between Linux and Android.

Buy Canadian@lemmy.ca•How would you fare if the US cut of Canada from tech?
3·5 days agoThe only US based services I use are Signal, Bluesky, and YouTube.
Signal. I only E2EE with one person so we can switch to Briar.
I don’t care enough about Bluesky to find an alternative but Mastodon might do.
I watch YouTube with a frontend (PipePipe) so I’ll probably continue using that.
Email is Proton as is password manager and VPN. I don’t use cloud storage.
Edit: corrected my early morning attempts at spelling.
November 5 is a reference to Guy Fawkes.
1984 is a nod to the book.
I always enter November 5 1984 for any site that needs it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do you personally hate Christmas?
10·9 days agoI no long hate Christmas but many years ago I was a cleaner in a shopping mall food court. The food court was on the second floor and right below was a 40 piece brass band playing Christmas music on the weekend. The rest of the time the mall had the sound system cranked full. People had to yell as loud as they could to place food orders at the restaurants.
To the day, I still don’t like that music.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Who are your favorite leftist/longform video channels?
21·10 days agoDarkMatter2525. He used to talk about religion a lot but lately his content is political.
Not sure if PapaMeat qualifies as longform with videos from 25 to 40 minutes but he covers a wide variety of topics.

2·11 days agoI personally see little wrong with using hardware past it’s EOL date if the user knows the risks. Braxman wasn’t informing his customers and selling phones that were years old as if they were brand new and still getting security updates.

3·11 days agoNo need to remove the post … I used to watch Braxman when I first started my privacy journey. Once I was exposed to enough sources and points of view, I realized Braxman is full of it.

5·11 days agoBraxman is a con-man. I haven’t checked out his store in a while but he used to sell EOL Pixels with GrapheneOS.
I prefer The Hated One, Privacy Guides, Techlore, and Side of Burritos.
For legal issues affecting privacy in Canada I watch Law Bytes Podcast and Privacy Lawyer.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Has anyone else switched to a dumbphone?
8·11 days agoI would have to surrender too much privacy and pay far more per month to use a dumbphone. No E2EE messaging and tracked by cell towers all the time (I use VoIP over wifi). When I’m out the phone is in my pocket 90% of the time. I take it out to check my shopping list or look at the store flyer.

Pixels are the only phone with the hardware and security the GOS project requires. GOS is working with an OEM to get GOS on another brand of phone.
