I’ve thought that the harvesting of doctors from other countries is quite near to being an act of war.

If you think racism is just an alberta problem, I’d like to introduce you to this thing we call ‘the world’.

I welcome removing the weird vestigal stuff that exists from the forming of Canada. A bunch of do-nothing ceremonial positions as far as my understanding.
They aren’t the biggest problems though… just a minor nuisance that I’ve heard is hugely annoying to fix. Lots of more important things to fight about that are easier to accomplish.

I’d rather they introduce more protections for the immigrants that choose to come here. I have heard tales of shady lawyers overcharging for form filling, or employers using the fear of not meeting work requirements to extract free overtime, or can keep wages low. Immigrants already pay a heavy price to come here.

Whoever is outside the box, they need greedy locals who think they have something to gain as coconspirators.

I’d respect her more if I thought she had any concrete belief other than ‘advance the self’. I think she is just happy to use anyone and everything for her own gain, including the seperatists.

Haven’t beento Mel’s, but it looks like it is still there. That’s making the list for sure

I feel like there is a generally fraying at the edges, or being stretched thin, that everyone alive is experiencing in addition to all the factors others have listed.
One trade-specific thing I have heard is that fellow workers on a crew can also put pressure on apprentices not to go back to school and ‘leave them shorthanded’. Knock on effects from shitty employers.
I don’t know if it would be viable, or if it already exists, but I would like it to have several routes to journeyman status whether those are more education oriented or more work oriented. I would be more inclined to go if it was setup more like a university degree co-op program - 5 years with an established work-term schedule and with program assistance for placements.

Yeah, but it is about making a statement.

I like the idea of tenant unions and I think property managers will also enjoy the benefits of them after the initial unrest / formation pains die down.

Oh sure, she’ll know by Oct 20th… I’m so sure they will have that all counted up by then. Completely unrealistic deadline conflicting with reality which will be followed up by feigning incomprehension later. I’d hope more people realize that this is not what competency sounds like.

Not them, but I think part of it that will be cruel is that the proper supports and services are not in place for some people with mental illness to have an adequate life and so people who would have chosen to ‘escape’ this destiny via MAID will instead be forced to find their own exit or live in that inadequate condition.
I would vastly prefer a system with such support and aide that they would never be a factor in choosing MAID, but we do not have that as far as I can tell.
I am not sure where I stand on this issue because I do not know enough about it yet.

Ah, not to worry. I predict the current referendum vote is to go 40% / 30% / 30% for ‘No further referendum’ / ‘Referendum to go’ / ‘referendum to stay’ respectively, which our premier will say ‘Oh, looks like 60% of folks want some form of further referendum’, so they can drag this out for another few years while we all grow even more furious about it. Then they’ll have another referendum and then finally find out that the majority of people would actually rather stay in Canada, or, more likely, further manoeuvring to keep the whole thing dragging out for all time - more time for the UPC to use our own money to feed us lies and propaganda.
It seems like the perfect issue to keep us all angry and give her leverage to get gifts and hall passes from the feds. I think the main threats to her are the separatists inside her party ousting her, or another provincial conservative party popping up to split the vote. I don’t think either are putting her at significant risk though.
I will continue to hope otherwise.

He could also call out the CRA underfunding that makes it difficult to go after the biggest tax avoiders and commend our RCMP for their reputed abyssmal record chasing down financial criminals. The money should start pouring in! And then back out…

It’s an everyone problem unfortunately.

I don’t really like that the UCP has used every government resource available to them to produce propaganda about the referendum, bringing forth a referendum question after the petition for the question was rejected by the legal system, and further gaming the question with confounding language and a three option answer with two answers ostensibly on the same side of the issue (opposing “leave”) to split opposition.

Alberta is a province of the haves. It’s got a great economy and great paying jobs for medium and low education needed for entry.
The whinging about being in a great situation and having the priviledge of providing a bare pittance of help to our fellow canadians, or foreigners who’d love to join us in our high seat, is unbelievable.
Could things be better? Sure! Can we all agree on what that might look like? Probably not. Could people stop being so easily manipulated by people who do not have their interests at heart? God, I hope so(also probably not).

I sometimes think that violence is seen as the easier answer. It is short term thinking, a big risk for an immediate possible reward versus a brutally long marathon of effort needed to enact real change non-violently. Statistically the long slog is the correct choice though.
You cannot keep fighting if you are dead from a violent act, but if you get up and apply pressure everyday it will add up. Be a warrior of great and enduring patience. Get up when you fail and try again. Learn and live a long time. And other words of motivation that are written on white ladies kitchen walls.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker. Game about cutting up spaceships with lasers and gravity tools with a bit of a narrative.
It’s not a great alignment for the types you identified, but I like all the things you mentioned and found this quite nice.
I impatiently await all of the private information of the members of parliaments and their extended families being inadvertently released with quarterly updates.
