  • I don’t think that’s entirely correct. When heating a burrito in the microwave, there’s no source of heat outside the burrito and there’s no heat transfer from outside into the burrito. The heat comes from excited water molecules in the outer layer of the burrito. The burrito itself is the source of heat. But the microwaves only penetrate so far - around 3 centimeters. The inner layers are heated by heat transfer from the outside to the inside which is probably very similar to traditional heating.

This is just being pedantic because your main point stands but I couldn’t help myself…

  • I hate PornHub search so much. I’m sure it used to work at some point in the past but now it’s completely useless. The only way to find something interesting for me is to scroll through garbage, click at anything even remotely promising, scroll through similar videos, click at anything even remotely promising, scroll through similar videos… Eventually I will usually find what I’m looking for - it is there but it’s fucking unsearchable for whatever reason. And mind you, I’m not into very niche stuff at all.

Good thing I have a girlfriend now and I barely ever touch porn anymore.

  • I honestly can’t believe there are software engineers who think they can just completely ignore this technology and stay relevant.

I’m not an AI bro, I’m not happy with the direction the industry is heading. But saying this technology is useless and refusing to touch it has got to be some kind of coping mechanism. I, for one, intend to adapt and learn how to use the new tools to my advantage.

  • Yeah, I’m pretty sure the vast majority of those “no AI” forks will die very quickly. I mean, what is even the best case scenario? The fork is on life support with some bug fixes maybe? Because I do not believe it will get more development than upstream. Besides, upstream developers will be able to take any new development they want from the “no AI” fork but obviously not the other way around.

I’m not an AI-bro but I think it’s completely unrealistic to expect you will be able to avoid software developed with AI assistance nowadays and even moreso in the future.

  • I regularly spend more than 8 hours a day at a keyboard but hand fatigue is not something I experience at all. Back, neck - sometimes. Hands? Never. Though I have put a lot of thought into ergonomics - desk, chair, staggered layout custom split keyboard, nice mouse (not vertical yet but I’ll probably switch soon). May I suggest you explore ergonomic equipment if you’re not familiar with it?

Back when I tried playing guitar a bit I actually liked taking short breaks from work to play. It gave me something else to focus and come back to a problem with fresher mind.
