We reckon we only ate approx. one tin of beans each in total. So about as bad as you’d expect from that!

The H&B ones were absolutely awful. They were loaded up with all kinds of herby flavours that just ruined it. Like someone had just haphazardly emptied their spice shelf into there without caring about which ones are actually going to work.
They were also one of the more expensive ones on the list!

Hope this picture does it justice! I dunno if they’re haricots or what to be honest. You can also see the fancy pizza sauce they were steeped in quite clearly.

These were my personal favourite, but they’re awful for normal bean usage. The sauce was like what you’d get on a fancy Italian pizza, and the beans themselves were massive. So, delicious but no good with a full English or on toast.
Also if you look at the photo of the tin pyramid, they’re the little jar you can see up front. So not only are the jars mad pricey, they’re also tiny.

I saw one posted somewhere that’d been polished to a mirror finish. It looked awesome, but then I remembered how much more dangerous such a thing would be on the road and I shelved it into the “cool, but fuck no” part of my brain

Ahh fair enough! Yeah, not sure about all that.
A very long time ago I remember there being FUSE filesystems that allow you to mount a .torrent like a network drive. I have no idea if these are still kicking though. Still doesn’t provide all of your extra bullet points but might be a good start to the rabbit hole

I suppose this explains why I keep having to move Funkwhale servers every few months because they keep shutting down (That and the usual “server costs outweighing the donation pot” issue).

Shit me, 200gb in metadata, 2.2TB in cover art before we even touch a piece of music! Wild

Torrents manage this without any extra tech. Just grab the .torrent file, and only select the files you have space for. Download them then seed, and get your 150 friends to do different files. If I then go to download a file that’s in your batch, the download will happen from your server (and whoever else is seeding these files), and if I go to download a file that’s on one of your 150 others’ server it’ll download from there.

I feel deeply sorry for the poor EU agent who has to sift through the depravity that likely exists on your average MAGA twat’s phone. You hear about those police staff members who have to view all the CSAM to investigate it and how it traumatises them, this would be the next tier down

Is this in anyway similar to Turtledraw? Looks like a similar concept (programming the maths to make a turtle draw graphics). I’ve seen a load of different implementations, from something similar to Logo (where it’s drawing on the screen), to where it’s drawing using a physical robot with a marker pen and a big sheet of paper on the floor, to a variation called Turtlestitch which controlled an embroidery machine.
I spoke to a woman at a conference last year who uses Turtlestitch to teach 7 year olds advanced programming paradigms.

I fully jumped on the Spotify bandwagon hoping the algorithm would decide what i listen to, I’d become stuck in a rut and hadn’t really listened to anything new for a good 15 years.
Well… After letting it figure my music tastes out, every single automatically generated playlist on there starts off with crap I just immediately skip before devolving into the same 5-10 songs I listened to pre-Spotify. So i guess it knows my taste well? But it has turned out to be useless for this too!

The other main thing that kills the feature for me is having to have a second SIM. if I could somehow have two SIM’s on the same unlimited contract I use for my phone, it’d obviously be a no-brainer. but I really don’t want to be paying an extra £20/month just so I can avoid tethering.

Yeah, my point isn’t that F360 sucks or that FreeCAD is awesome, it’s that basically no one uses either of these apps in the grand scheme of things. Doing CAD is just not something most people do. To be honest, the same goes for Photoshop which is another often-touted point, as though even a small percentage of PC users ever go near Photoshop!

if you’re squeamish about flashing custom recoveries and ROMs, the e.g. pmOS install process is way, way, way more involved and failure prone. if you go with ubuntu touch or mobian, even more so.
What?? PmOS and Ubuntu Touch both have very easy, foolproof installers. No idea about Mobian to be fair.
I’ve been using only Linux-based mobile OS’s since my first smartphone, and while you’re right for a lot of the new breed made for the Pinephone and Librem, Sailfish OS and Ubuntu Touch are both perfectly useable for lots of people. Both have a decent app ecosystem and both support running Android apps to fill in the gaps (I’ve used both, the proprietary Jolla one is about as good as it gets and is practically seamless for like 99% of Android apps).
Of course there’s going to be people who will respond to me to say they can’t possibly switch because of that one app that they and 5 other people in the world use, as though they’re in any way relevant to what I’ve said. Just the same as when I post about people switching to Linux on the desktop and there’s always that one Fusion 360 user who thinks everyone in the world also uses Fusion and so Linux can’t possibly ever work for anyone.

I have a laptop with a SIM slot and I can use mobile data, SMS and even make voice calls. It doesn’t support 5G though. Also the mobile hardware is crap, and I get like a 10th of the speed over 4G that I do on my phone, plus it chews through battery.
So yeah, awesome feature but not as nicely implemented as I’d like. Hopefully the Thinkpad version is better!

Volvos for dads

Is he also aware that basically the entire world outside of America thinks American cars are shit?
I absolutely do have an idea how well it’ll be able to do the job, based on AI’s past performances in basically every other area, knowing its strong and weak points and knowing the job very well myself. Obviously I don’t know for sure, but I’m not hopeful!
Ahh crap my cover is blown
