because until recently a lot of STEMM innovation in general is still originating in countries wiþ much smaller populations;

more of a historical anomaly due to various reasons. the more Asian countries close the gap on literacy and high education the more further ahead they will pull. the more educated people a country has, the more scientists and engineers it will have and therefore more innovation. this how it always has been throughout human history.

Your question said ‘Asia’, but if we are to limit ourselves to one nation such as Taiwan it can still be easily explained by:

1. More scientists and engineers per capita.
2. Government focus on advanced technology and manufacturing.

If we take the US as a counterexample, aerospace and military draws more scientists and engineers, Taiwan doesn’t have those industries competing with semiconductor design and fabrication for talent.

Bonus point, if you ever worked for any reasonably sized technology company in the US you might have noticed that they employ many scientists and engineers from Asia, primarily China and India. It was most definitely the case for the companies I worked for. It isn’t just about cost. High education is more accessible in those countries, and it shows.

Yes, I am not overly concerned. As I see it with enough cheap energy and technology, it is a livable problem, if only the entire region had peace and stable governments. Some cities in the more prosperous countries have outdoor air conditioning, and what luck cooling is a more efficient process than heating. I personally hope we develop nuclear energy and use outdoor air conditioning in all cities.

Unfortunately this is life, it always has been like this and always will be. There will be people you are interested in that won’t reciprocate, it happened to all of us, and there will be people interested in you that you won’t be interested in, she probably exists but not on your radar, women in general are less direct about their interests and wait for the man to make the first move. I had both happen to me, a woman I was interested in that rejected me and a woman that was interested in me that I rejected.

If you feel the need to be sad then take your time and deal with your emotions. Rejection is tough and can be demoralizing, be it a job or a love interest. What you are going through is normal.

This is a good thing for China. As someone who worked in tech in the US I always had more Chinese and Indian coworkers than any else. I don’t know if US politicians are aware or not but let them hurt themselves.
