I’m not suggesting you should feel sad. I know that lemme is an echo chamber of far left beliefs and I’m as liberal as a person can be, but I feel like we’ve lost the plot in some ways. I want peaceful protests. Call me hippie or pacifist, but I abhor violence no matter where it comes from.

I don’t know why everyone here thinks I’m defending him or showing him respect in any way. All I’m trying to convey is that is that celebrating violence isn’t the path we should choose.

The fuck? I’m a staunch ally of our LGBTQ, black, gun violence survivors. I’m not defending him in any way. I’m saying that we can oppose all of his beliefs and still decry the glorification of violence. Read what you wrote. Because he was a terrible person he deserved not only to be killed, but to be killed slowly? I don’t know how some morals get skewed, but I’ll die on this hill. Our best freedom fighters led by non violent protests and i fully intend on carrying on that tradition.

Of course care the care is entirely for he people he harmed or convinced his views were even reasonably sane. Who said we should grieve his death or show respect? Taking joy in the death of another person is a different animal altogether. Also, this feels an awful lot like celebrating his death.

I’m not saying that he wasn’t killed by the same sword he advocated, but to revel in it? Thats something entirely different. To be clear, I think he was a piece of shit, but making a joke of murder isn’t the way.

I dunno. Fucking with trans people, black people, women is cool. Destroying the economy in general is cool. Eradicating education and free lunches is cool. Cozying up to foreign states that are clearly fascist is cool. Sexually assaulting women is cool.

But fucking with old, white people’s money is most certainly not cool. It’s surprising how quickly a mind is changed when it is finally their turn to suffer. This isn’t something many seniors can live without, literally. They rely on social security as their only income source. If social security fails, the Republicans will kill a significant portion of their own voter base.

We had an anti-Trump protest in Alabama. In ALABAMA. And this wasn’t mostly college-aged liberals. It was primarily older white people, the republican core demographic. If we, by some miracle, make it through the next three and a half years, the Republicans are going to suffer historical losses across the board.

Well fuck me, I recently said that trans in women’s sports was a complicated issue. This is straightforward anti-trans propaganda. I also looked at some peer reviewed studies that showed there is no physiological advantage for trans women.

We all make some assumptions based on anecdotal evidence, and the best we can do is learn from our mistakes.

The previous poster did not disparage our trans friends in any way. This particular issue is very complex. It is undeniable that people born male have a natural advantage in virtually every physical activity. In any physical competition where winning is incentivized (such as college athletics where the reward could be scholarships and potential NIL deals), there has to be a discussion.

All that being said, the number of trans athletes competing at a collegiate level is so small that the withholding of funds is just an outright attack on the trans community and has nothing to do with an earnest discussion about the ethics of female identifying trans competing in women restricted events.

It’s not about what people here believe. Lemmy trends HEAVILY left wing. It’s about people already saying both candidates suck and don’t want to vote or centrists who lean left electing not to vote.

Unfortunately, republicans tends heavily toward the elderly who always vote. Any vote not cast is a vote for fascism. People who care are scared. I am scared. We need someone who will get people in boothes.
