It’s the same in Germany, I’ve been in a sign making factory and they will make signs for everyone who pays. The illegal part is not owning them, the only illegal part would be putting them up on public streets without authorization. You are definetly allowed to use these signs on your own private ground, on a private parking lot for example.

Seit ich “unplattbare” Mantel drauf habe hatte ich nie wieder einen Platten. Hat zwar mehr Rollwiderstand, dafür muss ich mir keine Sorgen machen.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Family ‘banned from more than 1,000 petrol stations’ amid fuel theft rowEnglish
2·18 days agoYes, this is how it is in Germany too and in my experience travelling it is like that in a lot of Europe.
Unmanned stations are a relatively recent thing here, so the first time I wanted to fill up at one I thought the pump was broken before I realised I have to pay first lol.

1·21 days agoOneDrive files not being able to be downloaded by external parties would really annoy me if it was like that at work, because that’s what I have to use to share files if our or their email system likes to think that the files I rightfully need to send to clients are “inappropriate”.
Seems like some systems block any files that are not a standard PDF file or similar.
It’s also true the other way around, especially if 4 seniors manage to block the whole path which is wide enough for a car to go down, walking next to each other.
And of course they are also too deaf to hear my bell.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you think standard batteries like A, AA, AAA, C, and D, 9V etc will eventually become obsolete?
11·1 month agoI would really hope we will start replacing them with 18650s and the like soon. Rechargeable NiMh batteries just suck in comparison to Li-Ion batteries

Technology@lemmy.world•Waymo says its self-driving taxis will take customers on freeways for the first timeEnglish
41·2 months agoYeah, I would be happier to have autonomous cars on the freeway than on other roads. There are usually no pedestrians on freeways that can be overlooked.
But I’m even happier that there are no autonomous cars driving by itself where I live right now.
Maybe he has had all individuality removed and now he cannot understand why anyone would have it.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some common things people buy that you would never buy?
1·2 months agoI just wait until I am at work, it’s much simpler because the coffee at work is free and I just have to press a button and wait for the cup to be full.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are some common things people buy that you would never buy?
1·2 months agoI already had my car when I moved to this city and now I feel attached to it, so I don’t want to get rid of it. If I didn’t already have it I wouldn’t buy a new one now though.
It is pretty useful at times though, even if I do most things with my bike, my car has a big cargo area so I can easily transport a fridge, dishwasher, etc.

2·2 months agoI bought a 144hz 4K 32" monitor a few years ago, it wasn’t cheap (800€) but I don’t regret buying it, everything just looks better on it than it ever did on the previous monitor.

2·2 months agoA dining table is good for when family comes over and you want to eat something together. Now I also use it to eat something with my wife, but before I rarely used it. It helped that it was a hand me down from my mother though, so I didn’t have to pay anything.

politics @lemmy.world•MAGA singles are looking for love in Washington. It’s a challenge.
3·2 months agoIt’s simple, if you only get one match for every 100 likes/swipe right you give out, you simply don’t have time to read every profile properly.
Especially if 9 out of 10 matches don’t even respond after messaging them.
That has been my experience and I am not even right wing.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Using dark mode might be more energy-intensive if the screen is an LCD.
1·3 months agoNot necessarily, if the LCD has local dimming depending on the dimming zone size it could be more energy efficient in dark mode.

Relationship Advice@lemmy.world•having dreams about my girlfriend, kinda freaked out despite these being normal(??)English
3·3 months agoI think it is possible to dream a lot of crazy stuff and it doesn’t have to mean much. This one actually seems pretty tame to me, I wouldn’t worry
Wheels with spikes work pretty well if it comes to hard packed snow and ice. Normal mointainbike wheels work well enough for me in the snow though, I was always just a bit careful and nothing ever happened so far.

AFAIK it’s actually not illegal, it is allowed to have a paid tracking free alternative instead of a free tracking free alternative.
