  • Uhhh… uh oh. Considering the immediate and widespread outrage response across the country from this very public murder, this is a boldly stupid move. Resentment and distrust of the US government is already at an all time high, and doubling down on an extrajudicial murder like this is only going to not only grow that resentment, but popularize the idea that if the people want justice, they’ll have to do it themselves. This administration has been making some especially stupid moves recently and I don’t think the world is prepared for the consequences. Like yeah, sure, the trump admin has always blahblahblah, no shit. I must emphasize that this particular term of the administration hasn’t even been this stupid until the last few months. They are very much so overplaying their hand right now and they are absolutely not in a position to handle this level of escalation. I’m pretty sure they both think they have way more control than they actually do and have way too much faith in very inadequate contingencies. They’re gonna continue having the appearance of being firmly in control, but at this rate, it’s just a matter of time before it blows up in their face and then no one is in control. I can’t emphasize enough how unprepared we all are for how quickly that will happen when it does.

  • So I’ve been having an issue on and off between versions that seems to have been broken by this update again. When downloading images, the whole application stops responding for awhile and takes anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. If I touch anything in between I keep getting a persistent android notification that the app stopped responding even after the hangup is over. Before updating to this version, it seemed to work just fine and downloaded immediately with no freezing. I’m not 100% sure what version I updated from, but it’s likely the last one pushed to the Google play store. Figured I’d finally say something now that it’s come up again.

  • This is absolutely a bullshit take. Like, yeah, no shit I noticed the reference to the kkk. In this context it was used as yet another generalization of “america bad”. It’s childish bullshit. There was no differentiation between the kkk and other Americans, did you fucking notice that? You think maybe that’s something that would piss off any sane person since like, oh, I don’t fucking know, maybe other Americans are black and descendants of those violently oppressed by that terrorist organization? Maybe that’s a super insane thing to imply while suggesting Americans are being murdered by ICE because that’s what they fucking wanted? Grow up.

Don’t play games with not understanding how being kind works. There are people who are bad people, and the person victim blaming people being murdered by fascists in their own government is one of those bad people. That kind of behavior should absolutely NOT be tolerated. Letting toxic bullshit slide like that isn’t in any way kind since it actively makes the world a worse place.

  • Now you’re just talking out of your ass, because that’s just factually incorrect. There are plenty of organizations that provide all kinds of support for protestors, organizers, and workers on strike as needed. These are big, well-funded organizations that regularly provide support in the form of bailouts, food assistance, security, legal assistance, first aid, medical supplies, organizational assistance, etc. There are an overwhelming number of these organizations that I made a point to not name any because you’ll find so fucking many just by googling whatever political cause you can think of. While I could name them myself, I think it’s more important for you to experience how easy it is to find any of these organizations and get into contact with them. This is why people on lemmy really need to just go the fuck outside instead of lamenting on the fediverse about how no one in the US is doing anything about fascism or whatever, because, HOLY SHIT, there are so fucking many people doing something about it right the fuck now.

  • Can’t help but notice I didn’t say anything about encouraging someone to leave their job. This is a pretty defeatist attitude when I was pointing out literally the opposite in that the system is obviously failing someone and they would be more receptive to movements of change. Joining a movement doesn’t require or necessitate leaving a job. Let’s not be silly doomers.
