Beehaw Support@beehaw.org•the August 2023 Beehaw financial update
11·3 years agoOpen Collective accepts PayPal. AFAIK PayPal takes a larger cut of the transaction than Apple Pay does.
I know that Beehaw != Open Collective, so I’m not asking for any changes there. Just curious if there are any other plans to accept donations through other methods.

Music@beehaw.org•Lizzo accused of sexual harassment and fat-shaming
19·3 years agoI hope it isn’t true. I’m not a fan of her music, but I love the positivity she puts out in her performances and her persona, as well as her support of drag culture. I’ll wait to see what comes of these accusations and others.

7·3 years agoIt would be nice if I could donate via Apple Pay. Any plans for supporting that? Open Collective doesn’t appear to support it.

Gaming@beehaw.org•whats a game that you got significantly far into, only to realize you were doing something wrong or missing a key feature/ability altogether?
5·3 years agoIt’s actually an important mechanic. How you play changes the game’s ending and you get a chance to try again. It’s meant to be played several times different ways, so you didn’t do anything wrong. :)

AskBeehaw@beehaw.org•Would you rather be a zucchini or a cucumber?English
1·3 years agoA cucumber, so I can fulfill my life-long aspiration to perform the perfect Pickle Rick cosplay.
In 2009, I was incredibly fortunate to be in a position to buy a home. By 2018, its increased value allowed me to purchase a second, larger home, move my family into it, and rent out our first one. Later, I refinanced both properties, reducing the interest rates by about 2% each.
All our children are on the autism spectrum. If we can keep these two homes, we plan to eventually sell them and place the proceeds in a special trust to support our children after we’re gone. Or, they might live in one or both of them—time will tell. Either way, knowing they have this safety net gives us peace of mind.
I hope others are as fortunate as we’ve been, with even more and better opportunities to secure a home and build a stable future for themselves.
