3·1 month agoI loved Mistborn! If you haven’t read the novellas/short stories yet, I recommend reading them after Bands. They’re quick to get through, provide some nice context, and offer a nice break from the novels.
I literally just finished Oathbringer last night (audiobook) and started Warbreaker immediately afterwards. I saw some recommendations to read that before Words of Radiance, but whoops, I was so caught up in the Stormlight series that I couldn’t stop myself lol. Figured now would be a good time to get into it.
How’d it go? Also, what sort of Adobe stuff are you running? I do hobby photography, and unfortunately lightroom is still by far the best option imo. But there are still some decent alternatives that run on Linux. I edited some engagement pics in Darktable in a pinch once because all I had with me was my laptop running Arch. It worked out pretty well.

Was not familiar with this one - thanks for the rec. I’ll look into it!
I flew through all the Mistborn novels recently, and I started The Stormlight Archive a little while back. I’m on the second book now and loving it. Really looking forward to all the rest!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why am I having back pain nowadays after peeing??
2·8 months agoNo, but thanks for the offer.
It’s not “solved.” Not trying to dive into yet another tabs vs. spaces argument. But this is just another example of how tabs can be pretty neat when they’re interpreted in a specific way. But it’s up to your editor, plugin, etc. to do so. Take the same text and throw it into an editor that doesn’t use this same interpretation, and it immediately falls apart.

5·8 months agoThat’s amazing. I haven’t done an install since archinstall was a thing. I enjoyed learning the entire process myself, but I know that’s not for everyone, and it’s nice to know they’ve employed a simplified version. Very cool!

7·8 months agoI’ve been on a Brandon Sanderson kick after starting and finishing all of the Mistborn books last year. Now I’m on The Stormlight Archive series and just finished The Way of Kings (book 1) a few days ago, so I’m onto the second!

8·8 months agoI realize it’s a bit of a dead horse to say this at this point, but if you like any of the arch spinoffs, I would definitely recommend giving arch a shot if you can get through the install process. It was a fun learning experience for me, and I used it as a daily driver for years with no big issues. And it’s even easier these days than it used to be!
Yeah, the pic doesn’t really do it justice lol, but it sounds amazing from the ingredients you posted haha.

Lol mine just about throws up when I take her 5 mins to the vet. Unfortunately for her, she has to do day-long road trips once or twice a year to visit family. But after she chills out, she’s quite an easy rider. Just very anxious at the beginning haha. I love her so much 😭

3·9 months agoThat’s a pretty good summation lol. I played it for maybe 10-12 hours when it came out. And I actually did enjoy a lot of aspects of it. Truly. But it just didn’t hold my attention after that little honeymoon period. Once the allure of “cool, I’m doing space stuff” was gone, that was it. Just felt repetitive and grindy after a while.

I’m also on a Brando Sando kick! If you’re loving it, I highly recommend jumping straight into Mistborn era 2 when you finish. It’s a bit more lighthearted than the original trilogy with some amazing character development and plenty of references back to the originals. Mistborn was my gateway drug into the Cosmere, and I am absolutely hooked now haha. Working my way through the Stormlight Archives now, but I’ve taken a small break to read Warbreaker. It’s been a treat finding all the connections between the different series and learning more about the universe he’s building as a whole.
