Totally. Some teachers have nothing else going for them so we end up with a strong authoritarian influence in education. It almost always misses the target where the actually trustworthy kids get unfairly punished.

Good on you. An actual hero.
You have valid concerns. It’s an unfortunate shifting landscape. There’s no opt-out for collection devices you don’t own (it’s hard enough already for the ones you do own) so consent has disintegrated completely. The reflexive reaction is threat model focus and adjusting your expectations of privacy. But what’s becoming more complex at that approach is how widely and with whom the data is being shared. If the doorbell server owner was using it to improve the doorbell product only, it wouldn’t be so concerning. But when it becomes a data harvesting tool for law enforcement or any other company willing to pay, relatively trivial data collection becomes much more imposing since it can be combined with other sources.
I am not at shirt-over-my-face level yet, but I would feel much more comfortable with a face mask any time I approach an unknown camera, which is increasingly common these days.

Thanks for putting this together. I have been dragging my feet on self-hosting NextCloud, and now it looks like that procrastination may just work out in my favor.
One question, can I just run this on localhost and access through my local network instead of using a reverse proxy? If so, how? That’s all I need, I don’t use a reverse proxy now and would be fine just using a self-hosted VPN to access it when away from my private network. The docs make it seem like there is pretty stringent requirements on having to use a reverse proxy and certs, etc which was the same ‘issue’ I had with NextCloud. I guess I’m the minority here, but curious if anyone can help answer.

Alright, boys. We’re gonna develop nuclear technology based off this basement here

I’m trying to do something similar. I am using Wireguard to VPN to my home network. Then I want to route all home internet traffic through one Mullvad instance. How would I do this? So far all my attempts have failed, I was trying to set routes but I don’t have an expert understanding of both VPN settings in regards to Linux networking.

My thoughts exactly. I’ll never understand. I also felt that the overall environment wasn’t very dark and mysterious, it seemed to follow the art style in the that same generic direction. And of course DS touch screen gimmicks and poor pattern recognition are painful during big battles.

Really appreciate your opinion here. What an incredible game, I have been meaning to replay it and this post is inspiring me to do so sooner than later.
Aria of Sorrow and this game have the best Castlevania art style. I thought the cartoon-y shift with the other 2 DS games was a big mistake, it just made the series fall into visual obscurity with anime styles. And a series like this benefits from the dark weight of the art style, especially when the low-poly pixels in game don’t convey the same amount of detail the drawings can. They really nailed these two games, they’re works of art in many ways.

Thanks for sharing, I didn’t know about this. Very interested to see the outcome. Might be buying a Vizio soon after!
When will they finally start grifting renewable energy to save humanity once and for all?

You got done dirty. Good on you for fighting back on the policy.
