Palestine@lemmygrad.ml•"The most moral army in the world" being absolute creeps
15·2 years agoBecause they think they’re in the right, won’t lose, and are untouchable. They literally can’t imagine that there will be consequences for themselves or these soldiers in the present or the future so they don’t care what these guys do or show.
Yugopnik actually talked about this very thing in one of his videos.
No, I would say that in recent memory it was just that book that was like that for me. Without spoiling anything I think it had to do with the book being kind of grounded (within the sci-fi setting it set) and then it just wasn’t.
And yeah I could definitely understand losing interest in that way. You just kind of lose the connection to the book through lack of interaction with it. Not sure if it would work but it could help to go back a couple of chapters and start reading from there to kind of remember what you were reading and feeling earlier.
What’d you think of it? I read it last year cuz it was recommended and I enjoyed the beginning but as the book progressed I got less and less interested.
You can also capture and sell human NPCs.

Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•Non biased books on North Korea? (If any exist)
10·2 years agoPatriots, Traitors and Empires: The Story of Korea’s Fight for Freedom by Stephen Gowans is a pretty good book. Been a while since I read it but it was very eye opening and a good read.
He’s still alive but iirc he suffers from dementia.

Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•Do you have a favorite Sports team?
3·2 years agoI enjoy watching a couple of sports but my main one is basketball. Favorite team is the San Antonio Spurs even though I’m not from that area of the US. Became a fan of them in the early 2010s because I liked their style of basketball back then.
Also I’ll always post “The Beautiful Game” tribute video whenever I have the chance.
It’s not just sleeping a consistent amount but also sleeping at consistent times. Waking up at 5:30 after 8 hours can feel decent if you consistently do it for a bit.

China@lemmygrad.ml•China's economy is not 'collapsing'. It's transitioning.
28·2 years agoThe topic is literally covered and explained like 3-4 minutes into the linked video.

GenZedong@lemmygrad.ml•Israel removing Palestinians from Gaza's North to control its gas reserves?
11·2 years agoRichard Medhurst talked about this before and recently. I tried to find the original video I saw but could only find his newer one talking about it here. But yes, while Israel would wipe Gaza off the map just for the land, they also want the natural gas off the coast of Gaza so they can build their pipeline to Europe.
Currently reading Open Veins of Latin America. I knew of the exploitation the colonizers and imperialists did but reading the stats and stories of the earlier periods just makes my jaw drop. I also wasn’t aware in the 1800s after Paraguay kicked out the Spanish, they were the only nation in the continent that wasn’t controlled by foreign capital and were pretty self sufficient. Obviously that wasn’t acceptable to the imperialists so the British helped fund Brazil and Argentina to start a war with Paraguay. Paraguay lost and have been under the boot of imperialists since then.
They actually did. Throughout the war, the ROK sent about 300,000 troops to Vietnam to help the anti-communists.

Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•What's your favorite genre of music?
11·3 years agoFavorite genres are definitely Rap and RnB but I’ll listen to some house music every once a while. Been getting into Reggaeton and Afrobeat the last couple of years and been liking those a lot.
Obviously you’re free to dislike how genres sound but I feel like that’s an oversimplification of the genre. It’s not just people saying words really fast, there are plenty of slower rappers. It’s more about the flow and the wordplay not to mention there’s a decent amount of artists that do a sing/rap thing at the same time.
I found this Twitter thread to be useful in explaining some background on the situation.

4·3 years agoDefinitely agree with all your points, set and setting are incredibly important when it comes to psychedelics. Also yeah I’ve read about lemon tek before but have not tried it myself, mostly cuz like I said I haven’t felt the want to trip but also because I saw that lemon tekking increases the strength of the trip and I don’t particularly want a strong trip lol.

Comradeship // Freechat@lemmygrad.ml•Does anybody else have experiences with psychedelics?
6·3 years agoOn the topic of it losing the magical experience, I personally feel like it’s all about how often you do it and at what point in your life. It’s not a very scientific way of looking at it but I feel like the shrooms have to “call to you” in a way. I guess what I mean by that is you should have the want to do it not just because but because you feel like it’ll help you in your life. I haven’t had the want to trip in about 3 years but that has recently changed.

Glad to have you here. Since you’re already reading some books I’d also recommend Blackshirts and Reds by Michael Parenti.
