I’ll rather stay strong inside. Not going outside until it starts raining.
I could also use some fan service. This heatwave is killing me.
Dammit Jim, I’m a doctor, not a vet!

31·22 hours agoDude, fuck off.
Huh. Here in Czech Republic we also enjoy hating on OSA, though in our case it’s something like “Author Protection Association”. Anti-piracy rather than internet blocking, but similar bullshit. We call it “osa zla”, which literally means “The Axis of Evil”.

3·24 hours agoYeah, sorry. Didn’t mean to snap. There’s a lot of people spewing hate and then hiding behind the “just a joke” excuse, and I didn’t like what I saw as an implication that I’m one of those.
And looking at the timestamp, it was right between me waking up and before getting my first coffee - my most vulnerable time =D
The genius of Naked Gun (and Leslie Nielsen in general) is that he’s got the classic double act energy, but he acts as the straight man to himself. Neeson (and the director) understood the assignment.
Liam Neeson was perfect for the role. Much like Leslie Nielsen back in the day, he practically never played any comedic roles, perfectly serious all the time.
And here I thought they were just looking for a similar name in the hopes we won’t notice the change.

Edit: sorry for the wall of text. I had some time during my morning coffee and it got out of hand a bit
The issue with the US is that only having two parties warps and squishes all nuance in political discourse. Everything gets forced into one of two boxes. Plurality reduced to a binary choice.
Conservativism is associated with right and liberalism with left, but it doesn’t have to be. We have a communist party - definitely economic left, but it’s packed with old conservative fucks, with focus on the so called traditional values, hoping to return to the good old days, when they were the only ruling party and they could throw people in jail for reading the wrong book or having long hair. And their voting base is mostly uneducated rural folks, much like the GOP.
Liberalism stands for personal freedoms - expression, religion, movement - hence the name. The state’s role is supposed to be to facilitate these freedoms. Think feminism, LGBT or environmental protection rather than the “government can’t tell me what to do” libertarian types.
Overall the idea is the opposition to the totalitarian forms of government - monarchy, communism, fascism - that we have faced in not too distant
futurepast (god I hope the typo is not a prediction), right here. I suspect in the US these are much more distant, abstract, easy to think of as bogeymen rather than a real threat.

4·2 days agoI haven’t been noticing it that much lately, but I’ve felt the same when I first joined. A lot of people just don’t get jokes and they will downvote what they don’t understand.

Is this post just rage bait?
