Please do not rule out Christchurch. Dispite the name and a bad rep from back in the 80s-90s with skin heads, we are a reasonably liberal place. Benefits of Chch. Housing, is much cheaper. The main hospital is right in the middle of town, next to a beautiful large park. The town centre is basically brand new (due to earthquakes from a while ago). If you live in the town centre, everything you need is within walking distance.

4·8 months agoThis is my go-to. But never added sugar to the top before. Normally go pumpkin seeds, or sesame seeds, or the kids like cheese on the top.

Homebrewing - Beer, Mead, Wine, Cider@sopuli.xyz•Reusing plastic lids/capsEnglish
4·9 months agoWhen I was even more poor than I am now, I would reuse the metal caps. If you remove them carefully, you can press them on again. With plastic bottles I find the bottles get uncleanable long before the caps do (I get around 10x uses out of a plastic bottle).

Aotearoa / New Zealand@lemmy.nz•Greyhound adoption sours over terms and conditions
3·11 months agoI love it how those two rule pretty much rule out every one who wants a Greyhound! Maybe with the exception of those who just love being able to put a cute little coat on a big gangly dog.

Aotearoa / New Zealand@lemmy.nz•Greyhound adoption sours over terms and conditions
12·11 months agoYou could easily be describing most farm dogs. I think dogs having a small run and a kennel, where they spend most of there time, and getting to go for regular runs is just fine. If you compare this to pigs, then then a track dogs life starts to look pretty good. But we are not banning piggeries are we!

196@lemmy.blahaj.zone•For some reason every conversation about this simple rule gets way too toxicEnglish
21·1 year agoThis implies you can not tell the person’s gender, which for most people is perfectly obvious. So often can cause offence. I realize not using they/them can also cause offence, but just much less often.

2721·1 year agoThis is so rubbish. Almost everyone is a he or she, so just use that. On the very very very rare instance you get it wrong, say sorry and use the correct one from then on. Unless you forget, the appologise again when corrected. Yes I am imply it is on the person who got called the wrong pronoun to correct the one who made the mistake.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Snowflake is such a weird insult as it seems to imply it's best to just be like everyone else
171·2 years agoI think you are cherry picking. It says it means both. My 5c: If you think you are unique and you don’t give a fuck about what other people think (example would be a goth or punk imo), then not a snowflake. If you melt down at the slightest touch over others not being like the status quo (example would be a Karen imo). Not a snowflake. If you think you are different, and melt down as soon as someone chalanges that difference (example vegan yelling at someone buying a steak imo) then snowflake.
As mentioned, you need the pad to be hot for the solder to wick onto it. There is missing info in step 1. Step 1 should say to have a slightly wet iron (solder on the iron). You used this molten solder as the heat transfer medium. Hold the iron so the wet solder on it is touching the pad and lead. This gives more surface area for the heat to travel from the iron to the pad. A dry iron touching a pad will have poor thermal connection, so the pad will take a long time to heat up.

Summary of the article. " By the way I have a massive cock, it is just huge, biggest in the world. Did I say about my massive unit? It is really big…oh I slipped in the shower and broke my arm,…but let’s get back to the massive third leg I have going on. ,"
