Gaming@beehaw.org•Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of March 24th
2·2 years agoI am playing Monkey Island, Balatro and Cyber Hook. I don’t think I need to introduce Monkey Island, so a bit about the other two.
Balatro is a card game, where you have to play pokerhands to reach increasingly higher scores. You can upgrade cards, get special effects and comboa going, all centered around the basic poker hands (pairs, flush, full house etc.) It is really fun for now, but I am not sure how long it will keep me.
Cyber Hook is a fast paced 3D platformer. Basically you are Spider Man, trying get through a level as fast as you can, swinging from structure to structure, running, jumping etc. It is inexpensive, bought it for ~2€ and it has a good set of mechanichs to make it not too complex but gives you a lot of possibilities to finish a level.

Buy it for Life@slrpnk.net•Long lasting sneakers or similar shoes?English
3·2 years agoYou could also check out Lowa. I had a pair of them before my doghammers, and only replaced them after ~6 years because they got torn at the side.
They are a bit more expensive though…

3·2 years agoCheck out doghammer, they also sell some for reduced price if they were display models or similar.
Furthermore they offer a repair service for certain parts of the shoe. I have a pair, though I didn’t need the repair service yet, so cannot attest to that. I am using mines all year, even in (light) snow.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•FOSS enthusiasts, what SaaS do you currently pay for?
9·2 years agoAh, I see. Then it would be Tuta for mail and Mullvad for VPN.
Some Distros come with Nvidia drivers preinstalled and I have heard people being succesful with them PopOS and Nobara come to mind. Nobara is very similar to Fedora, it is in fact based on it.

4·2 years agoI do not think they are called drivers, but yes, installing the needed codecs should work. I just did not find out how to do it properly.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•[Fixed] Jellyfin video stutters on some files (all MKV it seems)English
3·2 years agoI did not really solve it. I looked around for a bit but found no good solution. The only thing that sort of worked was to copy the stream URL in Jellyfin and paste it into VLC Media Player, which could play the videos okay. But that was not really satisfactory for me.
In the end I installed a new OS on my PC which already came with the codecs to decode x265 preinstalled. I installed it for other reasons but it fixed also that issue and now I can play any video in the Jellyfin Media Player. I did not try if it also works in the browser. The OS I am now using is called Nobara.

14·2 years agoI had a similar problem. For me it was because some of the videos were encoded with x265 which some client devices could not decode properly. Therefore the server had to decode them but it was not fast enough to do it.
I guess that is why on the Android device the videos are smooth, it can handle the decoding.
To me it seems like not so harsh ciritisism, perfectly okay.
