It’s only a modest proposal.

There’s truth in the saying though, since doing something nice to someone else feels good. And if that someone is a loved one, who you likely spend a lot of your time with/around, then that feeling is amplified.
Also it’s much more fun to spend time with people who are in a good mood than them being in a sour one.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I wonder what would've happened if Lego bought Minecraft
3·27 days agoWell there is a much larger focus on realistic survival, but I bet you could make some kind of item sorter using chutes and stuff. There are ways to grind mobs, but nothing to really cheese them like in Minecraft.
As for item diversity, there is a lot of different tree and mineral types (think Magnetite and Hematite being 2 ores for iron, with them being able to spawn in different rock types). I haven’t had too many issues with item sorting, but I’m rather disorganised in terms of sorting my storage.
Modders have probably made some sort of storage mods, since modding in VS is very robust and easy compared to Minecraft.

4·28 days agoCrafting tools goes from bashing rocks together on the ground to make tool heads to pouring molten metal in clay tool molds (or physically smithing them out on an anvil with a hammer).
There are windmills, and the next update will bring water wheels, which power certain more advanced machinery like querns for grinding grain or helve hammers for somewhat automatic smithing.
I’m not worried about the stats since it’s better than my rig lol, but with ram and other hardware prices increasing, it does worry me a little that it could flop due to the price.
I mean, you’re not wrong, it’s just you probably got banned for spam.

3·3 months agoMeanwhile EU5 released with incredible QA for the starting centuries, with dwindling testing done for the later ones. And I can’t even blame them, knowing how much slower the game generally is.
Kind of the point, since the Snyder films were trying to portray a “realistic” Superman (whatever that means), which gave him a sort of cognitive dissonance in how little he cared about actually saving human lives, despite saying otherwise.
From what I could tell, the Bluesky OP had a private conversation with the younger fellow who simply just wanted to find out something from someone they might personally know.
It isn’t wrong to ask someone a question which could be easily googleable since the question is simply a way to converse and find out more about the person you’re questioning.
If they really are someone who just seeks attention, they’d just make ragebait about this topic publicly.

4·3 months agoI’m sure they’ll continue development, considering that they are planning to use any improvements to existing systems that the Fantasy Mode devs will make.
Most people hope that the combat system will improve, but time will tell.

9·3 months agoThat was during the dream sequence at the end, no? You can even correct the character saying that they’re not lists, but trees or something like that.
That coconut is clearly not on a palm tree, mate. /s
So it averages out to being about average in difficulty then.
I mean, that’s why in any such contested roll between PCs you should have both parties agree to the roll and just see how the dice land? And if they don’t agree to it, they’re free to roleplay it how they wish to. That’s how we do it at least.
I don’t see why you have to call someone’s preference on how to play a “skill issue” though.
This depends on the table and their own rules honestly. In my DM’s table we go for a contested roll of deception/insight between our players or between NPCs. Now this might not be RAW, but we do it that way and we like it since it creates funny and interesting scenarios.
And for the RPG horror stories bit, I don’t think that if the DM is trying to force something that they’ll just obey the dice blindly if they aren’t in their favour. They’re just gonna turn around and say “oh no, you didn’t pass the DC / my NPC also has +30 to his persuasion, you lose.”
Just don’t mix up Outer Worlds with Outer Wilds lol.
Or maybe do, since they’re both good games.
Stressing each word gives a different meaning to the sentence and considering that there are 7 words, it means there are possible 7 meanings if you stress one word.
Reminds me of Hakita saying that Ultrakill would be garbage if the players were designing the game instead.

I’ve heard supposedly that sitting back further away from the monitor helps with motion sickness, so if you have some sort of TV screen that you could hook up the game to, that might work?
