At this point, I want it to get worse. It isn’t going to get better until all the comfortable trash becomes uncomfortable. Even that could be wrong, though. The whites destroyed the labor movement in the US because it was more important to them to continue being racist and upholding race based power structures than to actually achieve their goals against the state that was gunning them and their families down, sometimes in their homes. Via war and it’s fallout, yes. The disruption to food, safe water, shelter, medical care, etc can increase the death toll well beyond direct casualties. Those are the most immediate effects, which doesn’t take into account the extreme pollution caused by munitions or burning structures/vehicles. All this is also only considering the use of “conventional” weapons.

I’m not sure about this specific location, but I have seen similar structures (including being inside one) as a foreign visitor. There is something quite striking/humbling about large statues or similar structures when they dwarf anything in the area. They definitely give me a more surreal vibe in comparison to natural formations that stand out in similar ways.

Essentially blaming the opposition for specific issues/events, followed by a crackdown, then a “restructuring” (for managed opposition e.g. Zimbabwe’s Tsvangirai) or completely outlawing the existence of such parties (Greece under Metaxas). I’m very concerned about the near future. If the Republicans (this is bigger than Trump) are successful in their final push for an authoritarian state, it will result in the death and suffering of billions, guaranteed.
