My favourite anime of all time! I wish it had a cinematic release, but I’m just glad to see the anime catch up on this bits of manga it missed!

Interestingly, Argentina have recently expanded their claim to the South Sandwich Islands and the UK’s theoretical claim of Antarctica. They don’t have any justification for it, they simply think they can get away with it as long as they claim victimhood if they don’t get it.

I got 59%, which I think is good for a first attempt! To be fair, going from Historic counties to Ceremonial counties in the 1990s did make it more difficult for people.

Can’t really add anything current to this thread since I’ve just started watching Case Closed/Detective Conan! It’s been a curiousity since I went to Japan and saw merchandise for it everywhere. See you guys in like 4 years!

Back in 2022 my brother, who’s quite the authority on football tournaments, said that the team England had then was the best team England had ever had, and if we didn’t win the Euros in 2022, we never will. 2022 was also the year of that laser pointer incident, so it was also an exceptionally embarrassing time to be rooting for England.

Yeah valid too

Fair enough, it’s a great send-off for a great show!
I brought up Ed Edd ‘n’ Eddy earlier because the main writer based all three of them off different sides of himself. Either he has a massively split personality, or it’s a good example of how even self-inserts can develop over time and not necessarily resemble the person they were originally based off. Heck, legally speaking it’s pretty frowned upon to base characters off real life people despite them creatively being the best source of inspiration! I’m no Jax stan!

Sounds like Lemmy’s already shaping up to compete with Reddit!
OK I’m kidding - I think you’re kind of right, Lemmy can get that sometimes, but much like Reddit, it’s only really on the bigger communities that you always see on the front page, smaller ones are pretty chill in my experience.
I guess it depends on what you’re seeing hostility towards, but I will also say that with Lemmy’s status as an open source social media trying to compete against the likes of Reddit and Facebook, I find that the people here are naturally more protective of it from the sort of thing you’ll see on other sites. Also because of Lemmy’s status, it also attracts a LOT of political discussion, which has always been the most likely thing to descend into hostile crap flinging.
Oh, I should also mention, please just block the whole entire .ml instance. I can guarantee that it will improve your Lemmy experience and your mental health. I did it in my first few days here, and I sometimes forget just how bad it was before I did block it!

I’ve said it before, but I really don’t get the GTA VI hype. The last Grand Theft Auto game being released over a decade ago isn’t any guarantee that the next one will be amazing - Duke Nukem, Metroid, Overwatch and Star Fox are examples of that. Also, anyone who’s been paying attention to the direction Rockstar games has been going for the last 5+ years would be pretty worried about how this game will actually turn out. A lot of stuff that used to be earned with in-game currencies in GTA online are only buyable with real money now. Their employee track record is horrible… Hearing about Rockstar not producing discs for their game doesn’t surprise me. Maybe GTA VI will “crash the industry” and all the things these YouTubers are saying, but it would be on status alone at the moment, not because we know this is going to be a great game.

Any new browser trying to compete with Chrome and Mozilla is welcome in my book!

This is cute, but I think it would have been cuter to see a Jax/Koughmo/Ribbit reunion in the aquarium.

I think the closest it really gets is the moment in the finale when Ribbit puts the bow on his(?) head and says “your secret’s safe with me” and he blushes for a few seconds, and he said something “personal” to his mum that she didn’t take well just beforehand. Nothing’s really stated out loud, and I thought there was just as much of a chance he was just into cross-dressing until Gooseworx said it out loud on Bluesky.

Maybe? I didn’t know Goose actually said that, and I’ll have to look it up, but even assuming she did say that, I’m still not too bothered by it. Often characters that start off as self-inserts aren’t one-to-one, and can develop into completely different characters over time. As a good example, the main writer of Ed, Edd, ‘n’ Eddy based all three main characters off different sides of himself.

Despite a couple of words I wouldn’t personally use, I actually agree with the broad strokes of this post, and I admire Amazing Digital Circus more for it! Jaxx is the antithesis of the main morals of the story - about opening up, showing vulnerability, and showing empathy to others when they do the same. While Pomni and the others took those lessons to heart, and grew to make genuine connections with one another, Jaxx doubled down on his(?) toxicity and cruelty for the whole show, and ended up seeing the irreversible consequences of that in a harrowing cautionary tale. I don’t think the finale was ever supposed to make us feel bad for Jaxx or that his actions were justified.

Apparently the voice actors of Caine and the Moon are married irl, making it even more beautiful!

It’s really beautiful to me knowing that both of them are just AI. Neither of them have any reason to communicate other than to accomplish a task or to entertain the people there, but there they are, just talking things out the same way almost the whole cast had been getting past their problems throughout the whole show!

Same - I remember seeing the thumbnail for the pilot and thinking it was AI or something, and ignoring it for months until some friends talked me into it! I’m so glad they did!

Definitely watching Dragon Ball Z as a teenager sometime in 2012 or 2013. I remember vividly having entire weekends being just sleeping, eating, and binging Dragon Ball Z, like 12 hours a day every weekend!

This could be fun, but I’m surprised it’ll be on Disney Plus. If anything could revive Cartoon Network, I would have thought it would have been Adventure Time
They left the UK to because it’s too woke and not corrupt enough (their own words)
